Our Podcast of the Month is with our very own NCCPE Research Fellow and Policy Analyst, Ann Grand. Ann was recently a guest on The SciComm Collective podcast during a visit to The University of Western Australia, where she is also an Adjunct Associate Professor in Science Communication, alongside her busy role at the NCCPE! Ann joined podcast hosts Felice Ng and Emma Gill to discuss all things public engagement, science cafes, engaged research, science identity, and more. Listen now at: https://lnkd.in/e_UygNT4 and why not share your reflections in the comments.

Today, the Government has released its Industrial Strategy green paper, and it is encouraging to see an emphasis on the importance of UK R&D and innovation to developing the UK’s growth-driving sectors. This aligns strongly with our next piece of work on the role of R&D and innovation in delivering the Government’s priorities and missions. With the spring Spending Review on the horizon, it is more important than ever to make the case for R&D and innovation as an integral part of tackling the challenges facing the UK. We’re convening our university, business and charity members and other stakeholders through a series of roundtables across the UK to highlight the importance of R&D and innovation to the Government’s priorities and explore what’s needed from Government for R&D to fulfill this role.
