The Greek Ministry of Environment and Energy is prioritising large renewable energy projects 🌞💨 to keep consumer energy costs low during the transition. Greece emphasizes large-scale projects 📈 for their cost efficiency. Larger installations, benefiting from economies of scale, are expected to lead the renewable targets set in Greece’s National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP) for 2030, ensuring affordable electricity for households 🏠 and industries. Smaller projects are set to operate mainly under the net-billing scheme, and energy communities may support demand response services. Greece had previously offered high feed-in tariffs (2008-2013), impacting consumer bills until about 2030, though this approach has mostly been phased out. Skylakakis highlighted Greece’s delayed entry into energy storage 🔋 but noted it has avoided high subsidies, leveraging recent technological cost reductions. Additionally, the ministry is exploring ways to boost wind energy 🌬️ in the national grid. While solar installations hit record highs in mid-2023, wind energy has seen limited growth. Adjustments to connection priorities favouring wind farms are being considered but not yet decided.

📌Chile Energy Transition Summit 2024 Today, Alex Santander G. highlighted a pressing reality: “today, only 22% of energy is supplied by electricity, with 14% from biomass. To reach our 2050 goals, we must cut fossil fuel dependency by half and double or even triple current electricity capacity” With a clear focus on 2030, the path is set, but the key question remains: how will we achieve this? Tomorrow, the Ministry of Energy will release a crucial decarbonisation plan for the energy matrix, setting short-term steps and accountability measures to drive progress. A decarbonised electric system is key to enabling clean, green hydrogen. This plan aims to be a major step forward for a sustainable energy transition. #EnergyTransition #ChileEnergyTransitionSummit #Decarbonisation #2030Goals #SustainableFuture
