This week Susan Jane Langford hosted the 3rd of our internship workshops. Zeinur Bimukhan joined the group to share his experiences of interning at Students Organising for Sustainability (SOS-UK) and how he manages his work-life balance, whilst studying and working as an international student. After a quick problem-solving session focusing on the opportunities mind mapping can offer when planning or working on ideas the group were joined by Tom Previte, founder of Restord a Cornish Biochar company to discuss the opportunities Biochar offers in terms of carbon capture. Luckily the Sustainable Earth Institute green wall had just had a trim, so there were plenty of clippings to propagate in the Biochar and see it in action.

This is a great looking role!
Chief Executive @ Cornwall Wildlife Trust. Conservation leader and non-profit director working from global to local
We're hiring! And its a peach 🍑 Fancy leading a major rainforest recovery effort here in Cornwall? 🌿 Temperate rainforest would once have covered large areas of Wales, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, western Scotland, and northwest and southwest England. Now only isolated fragments remain 🦋 The Wildlife Trusts are working with others to restore and expand our temperate rainforests, including here in Cornwall at Cornwall Wildlife Trust Are you an experienced project manager with a passion for nature and a desire to put temperate rainforests back on the map? Take a look 👇

"The UK has abundant offshore wind, wave and tidal energy resources and leads globally in ORE technology, but faster, more focused action is required to ensure we meet Net Zero 2050 targets. Research and innovation is critical—accelerating the optimisation of existing technologies, reducing design uncertainty, and discovering new ways to plan and construct these devices." Professor Deborah Greaves OBE - Director of the Supergen Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Hub and Professor of Ocean Engineering, University of Plymouth Our new report is a call to action, outlining the innovation-led support essential to develop the offshore renewable energy sector and set us on a pathway to Net Zero. Fantastic - can’t wait to see the results!
Great to have the University of Plymouth Net-Zero Exchange (formerly Low Carbon Devon) research team and Western Geo Build visiting the site yesterday to decide how best to monitor the living wall we're developing! The team will be investigating how the choice of plant form (trailing or bushy, different types of leaves,...) will affect how the living wall insulates the building - from the sun in summer, and heat loss in winter. The structure is going to be installed very soon - stay tuned! Find out more about the Living Walls for Net Zero project on our website: https://lnkd.in/eJD7TA2X

Great time at the RIBA Cornwall climate resilience event today on circular economy. Interesting topics covered, highlights were: 🌱 what sustainable leadership in the built environment looks like. 🏡 retrofit skills as the gateway to prioritising reuse of buildings. ♻️ what happens to building materials and systems at the end of their life — how do we measure the carbon impacts of different scenarios to make informed decisions? Thanks to RIBA Cornwall for organising and to the presenters for their engaging presentations. #climateresiliance #sustainability #embodiedcarbon #cpd RIBA RIBA South West

I help organisations develop effective marketing and product development plans to drive sustainable growth / Open to NED roles
I’m excited to start a "Future Climate Leaders" course from next week. Like many, I’m worried about the impact of climate change and want to do more through my work to protect people and the planet. 🌍 The course has been developed by the University of Plymouth and the Net-Zero Exchange (formerly Low Carbon Devon) project. It aims to give attendees the "tools to become proactive, informed, and influential in tackling environmental challenges" and make them "champions of a sustainable future." I look forward to applying this knowledge through future work. 🌱 #NetZero #ClimateAction #Sustainability #GreenSkills
