This year we've seen more young people affected by homelessness in London than ever before. So we are expanding our teams, joining new partnerships & increasing the support we offer to young people. We have new exciting roles available across our teams: https://buff.ly/3LU0Zj5

For as long as young people find themselves homeless in London, we will be on a mission to give their potential a home
About us
‘Youth Centre’ may be in our name, but we are so much more. Every year, thousands of young people across the capital become homeless because of family breakdown, domestic abuse, poverty, experiences of violence, or war and persecution in their home country. Under-resourced councils are only able to help a limited number of the cases, and with an ongoing housing crisis, cuts to services and difficult job market the rest find themselves homeless and vulnerable at a critical point in their young lives. We are a vital support network for 16-24 year olds with nowhere else to go. Through the ‘one stop shop’ services we provide at our daycentre and outreach we support thousands of young people experiencing homelessness in London to improve their wellbeing, change their economic circumstances and find somewhere that they can call home. Given the challenges that these young people face, it’s no surprise that they tell us that surviving is a talent, but we believe that these talents should be used for so much more. For as long as young people are homeless and vulnerable in London, we will be on a mission to give their potential a home.

The #AutumnBudget brought some positive steps for the #PlanForThe136k campaign: Increasing spending for homelessness and rough sleeping by £233 million, a £10 minimum wage for 18-20s, and £500 million investment in affordable and social housing - but a lot was missing and not nearly enough to end youth homelessness. We are still calling for an end to the outdated benefit system to #MakeWorkPay for young people in supported housing. And for a youth specific chapter in the Government’s promised strategy to end homelessness. Join us to keep up the pressure to end youth homelessness for good #PlanForThe136k

Last year we had over 10,000 visits to our day centre and supported nearly 1,500 young people like Chloe, Noor and R to navigate the storms of youth homelessness and find their potential a home. Their powerful and beautiful quotes help illustrate our impact numbers below. Find out more about how our teams rose to the challenges of last year and continued providing unique and empowering support to young Londoners: https://buff.ly/4eWZdKC

Watch this brilliant film about how football bring people and communities together. On deeper level, our football is about belonging, friendships, acceptance, courage, faith and hope. We love working with VYD Community Interest Company to run football tournaments and celebrations every year for their Away from Home team, of young refugees and asylum seekers, and our FC Hope team, of young people facing homelessness. This was filmed in Brighton during the summer, where FC Hope lost 4-5, but we can't wait for a re-match in London this Autumn! #football #hope
Every year, VYD’s refugee and asylum seeker football team from Brighton faces off against New Horizon Youth Centre's FC Hope from London in a spirited and competitive match. This event unites displaced people from around the world, bringing them together through the love of football. With incredible support from East Brighton Food Coop, it’s an annual celebration of community and positive energy. This year, we captured the excitement of the Brighton leg, where the Away From Home team clinched a thrilling 5-4 victory! Watch the film here - it's stunning, thanks to Bosie Vincent. Also thanks to Simon Stevens for his support, help and love and Felix Haxby for his dedication, kindness and skill. https://lnkd.in/e-JZt4TE

As the #Planfor136k Collective, we’ve come together to urge Chancellor Rachel Reeves to end the benefit trap that homeless young people face when entering work. With the support of over 140 youth, homelessness, and housing association organisations, we’re making it clear: a policy shift to Make Work Pay in the October Budget is crucial for empowering homeless young people to secure meaningful employment and help reach their full potential. Read about it in The Big Issue https://buff.ly/3BINyQO #MakeWorkPay
