About us
The New Port Theatre Company, or NPTC, sprung to life after the summer of 2017. A theatre company has been something long discussed by Port Glasgow High School's principal music teacher, Julie Ballantyne. She has been working on the school's creative productions for over 20 years, as well as with many other professional & semi-professional theatre groups. David Whiteside & Scott Stoddart, have worked with Julie for over 10 years, producing the school's musicals & like Julie, have seen many very talented actors, singers and musicians come and go. It seemed with so much talent still around the school and the local area, even although people had long since left, that now was the time they should jointly ask if there were any former pupils & friends who wanted to pick up where they left off. There was an excellent response! Now, we have had a few meetings together and there is now a group of 20 - 30 of keen individuals who are aiming to put on our first show in late 2018. We appreciate that there are other theatre companies in Inverclyde, however, we are the only one based in Port Glasgow. We want to deliver the best possible show we can on a tight budget. Plans are in motion to start fundraising and we are setting our sights on £5k over the next 12 months. To save on costs we will be using Port Glasgow Community Campus’ theatre for the production. We are aiming to involve as many keen members of the local community as possible.
