The Bishop of Newcastle, the Rt Revd Dr Helen-Ann Hartley, was among over 200 guests treated to spectacular performances by Newcastle Cathedral Choir and Calvos (calvos.co.uk) at last night’s Newcastle Cathedral Trust Gala Dinner. Newcastle Cathedral Trust was established in 1981 to support the life of the Cathedral through fundraising and members' business expertise. It was a pleasure to welcome Newcastle NE1 this morning for their winter business breakfast, during which we heard all about the city centre's recent and upcoming developments. The recently installed Dean of Newcastle, the Very Revd Lee Batson, spoke about his vision for "a cathedral dedicated to building a better future". He also discussed the impactful work of our Lantern Initiative. Find out more at https://lnkd.in/gP2MZjKb.

Help support the Cathedral Trust by booking a table at the inaugural St Nicholas Gala Dinner on Thursday 25 April 2024. See Chris Pearson's post for more information about how your business can get involved. ⛪🍽️
I’ve never talked about this before, on Linkedin, and I thought – why I haven’t I? I really should. - Not many people know that I am a trustee at charity, St Nicholas Cathedral Trust, in Newcastle. - It’s my way of helping people who are struggling in life, through no fault of their own. - In centuries gone by, a fire was lit at night in St Nicholas Cathedral’s Lantern Tower as a beacon to help boats navigate their way safely home, up the River Tyne in the dark. - Linking to this legacy, the Cathedral has a ‘Lantern Initiative’ which seeks to be a literal ‘beacon of light’ to people trying to get through difficult circumstances in life. - That could be - being homeless, having refugee status, living with addiction or poor mental health, or being lonely, or grieving. - I’m helping organise a magnificent gala dinner to raise funds for the Lantern Initiative. - It’s on the evening of Thursday 25 April and will be a stunning night of great entertainment and food. - Guests will be captivated by the Cathedral's rich architecture, the culinary experience provided by renowned Jesmond caterers, Boldon Farmhouse Pantry, live music and the Cathedral Choir and an enchanting circus-inspired performance. There’ll also be an auction featuring unique items. - We’re looking for businesses that would like to take a table, which are £1,300 (inclusive of VAT). - Please give me a shout if you’d like one, or more information - this really is an incredibly worthy cause, close to my heart. #charity #galadinner #Newcastle Jenny Hartley Peter Cumiskey Adrian Waddell Katie Sussams
