I am thrilled to unwrap the completion of our latest project: the comprehensive refurbishment of Exeter College, Oxford Library at the University of Oxford. Designed in collaboration with Donald Insall Associates, we've revitalised one of George Gilbert Scott’s most iconic works in Oxford, blending sensitive restoration with contemporary design interventions. This project not only preserves the library's historic character but also meets the evolving needs of the college community. Here are some of the key highlights we look forward to sharing in more detail over the coming days: - Creation of additional study spaces and improved accessibility with new stairs and lift. - Integration of a new main entrance, reducing disruption and rationalising circulation. - Innovative design using prefabricated mass timber and a cantilevered timber structure. - Thoughtful preservation of historic elements and a full upgrading of services and energy performance. Working with Exeter College and our design and construction team has been an incredibly rewarding and enjoyable experience. We’ve been fortunate to collaborate with such talented and committed people, who despite the challenges of the past four years, have completed such a high quality project on time and within budget – a true demonstration of the quality and dedication of everyone involved. My thanks to Rob Earl at the Architectsjournal for the article today, and you can check out our website for more details and beautiful images from Will Pryce.
