On 23 October 2024, the £2.1 billion acquisition of Keywords Studios, the international provider of creative and technology-enabled solutions to the global video games and entertainment industries, by EQT Group, a global investor with decades of experience in services and technology, completed – it has been a privilege and a pleasure for MHP Group to work with the fantastic Keywords team through this transaction and for more than a decade. The MHP team of Katie Hunt, Eleni Menikou, Charles Hirst and Clementina Esman worked alongside Keywords Studios and its other advisers Robey Warshaw, Deutsche Numis and DLA Piper. Managing Director Katie Hunt, who has worked with Keywords since 2013, shared some thoughts following the news: "Keywords Studios has been one of our longer-standing clients at MHP, having been appointed in 2013 alongside Numis to advise on its successful IPO on AIM and position the business for growth as it raised funds to consolidate the fragmented video games industry. Since then, we have supported the Group as it executed over 65 acquisitions, grew into a global business with over 70 facilities in 26 countries employing over 12,000 people, and served the great and the good of the video games and entertainment industries. The business has been one of AIM’s great success stories, having grown in value from £50m at IPO to over £2bn through its 11 years as a listed business. It has been great to work with the team over more than a decade, most recently advising the Board on the Recommended Cash Offer announced over the summer, and we are certain that the fantastic team at Keywords will continue to go from strength to strength as the business embarks on its next chapter."
