For more than a century,  we have provided quality insurance to customers, their families, and their businesses

About us

At NFU Mutual, we do things differently. We take the time to understand the needs of our customers, offering personal face-to-face service through more than 295 Agency offices nationwide. And, because we’re a mutual, the people that matter to us most are our customers. When we started in 1910, our aim was to encourage farmers around Stratford-upon-Avon into the newly established farming union through cost price insurance. Before long, the business expanded beyond it's Midlands home, establishing branches across the United Kingdom. As farming diversified, so did we. Growing beyond agricultural insurance we used our life assurance, investments and pensions expertise to provide individuals and businesses with our renowned customer service. Today, our people continue to build relationships with their local communities, taking the time to understand their individual needs so that we can offer the insurance cover appropriate to them.

We're proud to be a long-standing supporter of the Royal Countryside Fund, and yesterday, our Group Chief Executive, Nick Turner and NFU Mutual Chairman, Jim McLaren, were amongst a small group of invited guests, brought together at Buckingham Palace by His Majesty King Charles to celebrate 15 years of the Fund. The Fund was set up to help family farms and rural communities to thrive and be recognised for their role in creating a sustainable future for the countryside and our whole nation. Aligning with many of the values of NFU Mutual, Nick and Jim were introduced to His Majesty and had the opportunity to discuss our emphasis on supporting rural communities and the work of The NFU Mutual Charitable Trust. Our charity, Farm Safety Foundation (Yellow Wellies), was also in attendance with manager Stephanie Berkeley having the opportunity to talk to the King about the mental health of farmers, their recent Mind Your Head campaign and the work they are doing to help change attitudes towards mental health within farming communities. Thank you to The Royal Countryside Fund and His Majesty for inviting us to attend this celebration and congratulations on the 15th anniversary of The Fund 💛

  • In honour of International Women’s Day, we have some inspiring events taking place this month for our employees ♀️ NFU Mutual’s Gender Equity Network (GEN) was created so that all genders at NFU Mutual can feel represented and supported. Gender equity is a broad topic, and the network focuses on some key areas, such as fertility, equal pay, miscarriage, health issues, and more. As part of our commitment to representing and supporting all genders within our business, GEN are hosting two International Women’s Day events for our employees: ➡️ The first session, hosted virtually at the start of March will focus on returning to work after maternity leave, work life balance, and mental load to empower working mothers and mothers-to-be within our business 🤰 ➡️ The second International Women’s Day event takes place both virtually and within our Head Office in Tiddington. This panel discussion explores this year’s theme ‘Accelerate Action’. Panellists from across the business will be opening a conversation about how women can be supported to excel in their environments 💪 We have also begun encouraging our female employees to donate some of their previously loved work-wear. All clothes collected will be sent to Smart Works Charity, who provide support to women by giving them clothes for interviews along with careers advice. #NFUMutual #IWD2025 #InternationalWomensDay
