We are delighted to welcome Ruth Allen as Head of Commercial Interventions in the Central Commercial Function. Ruth brings with her over 20 years’ of NHS experience across category and procurement teams. For the last 3 years, Ruth has been Associate Director of Procurement for the Foundation Group Procurement Shared Service, serving South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust, George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust and Wye Valley NHS Trust. She has also been a joint ICS procurement lead, a member of the regional NHS Supply Chain Customer Board and was Senior Responsible Officer for the Coventry & Warwickshire ICS Procurement Advisory Group. Ruth will provide invaluable experience and insight to help shape the strategy, priorities and delivery of the CCF and the Frameworks Programme.

We’re really excited that NHS Commercial has been shortlisted for two awards at the Health Care Supply Association (HCSA) Awards taking place in November.   Our fantastic Net Zero and Sustainable Procurement Team has been shortlisted for the Sustainability/Social Value Excellence Award for their work to advance sustainability across the NHS supply chain, including through the world-leading NHS Net Zero Supplier Roadmap and the introduction of the Carbon Reduction Plan, which from April 2024 now covers all new procurements.    And the brilliant Lois Shield FCIPS (Chartered), Associate Director, Central Commercial Function, is a finalist in the Unsung Hero category, which recognises her expertise in public sector procurement and her tireless efforts to support and develop the ICS procurement community while keeping patients at the heart of her work.   Congratulations and good luck! 🎉
