In case you missed it yesterday, there was an important announcement from NHS England that people in crisis with mental health problems can now access services through NHS 111 in England, giving them another way to get urgent help. By dialling 111 and pressing 2, the number connects to a local team of call handlers with mental health training, alongside nurses and clinicians who are available around the clock. It was very positive to see one of our local NHS trusts Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust Foundation Trust featured on the national news, with the team explaining their work, and the high levels of demand which they are seeing. We're proud and grateful for colleagues like Gemma and Chris (mentioned in the article) and all their hard work supporting our local community, as well as the brilliant partners we have working in mental health trusts too, to provide the best possible care for patients, service users and their families. https://lnkd.in/eQJyVkP8

We visited Welbourne Health Centre in Tottenham Hale to see how staff are settling into the new multi-purpose health facility. The centre, funded by North Central London Integrated Care Board in partnership with Haringey Council, is open, offering a wide range of healthcare services to over 25,000 residents. What you may not know is that it is also a teaching practice. Sila Makoon, Managing Partner of the GP centre, said, “We train GP registrars, medical students, foundation doctors, nurses, different areas… It’s going to be amazing what this is going to offer, for teaching, for the future.” #HaringeyCouncil #Haringey #Tottenham #NHS #GPs #Nurses #Training

We're proud to be part of an amazing project team nominated in this year's HSJ Awards for the "Reducing Inequalities and Improving Outcomes for Children and Young People Award" 🎖 The initiative, spearheaded by Open Door (special thanks to Ruth Glover) in collaboration with Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, deep:black and NHS North Central London ICB, addresses mental health inequalities amongst vulnerable children and young people in Haringey. Utilising a combination of psychotherapy, sports and arts, the project aims to improve access, experience, and outcomes for vulnerable young people living in the 20% most deprived and racialised communities, and with mental health difficulties or SEND. Since inception, over 1,000 children and young people have engaged in co-produced therapeutic interventions, empowered to find their voice, improve confidence, and reduce mental health problems 🧠🏃♀️🎨 This amazing project has led to significant improvements in mental health, school attendance and community engagement. Congratulations to everyone involved, and thank you for your hard work, commitment, and the long-lasting impact you have delivered for the community! ⭐ Read more about the North Central London projects nominated for the HSJ Awards here: https://lnkd.in/eJKdUWhw

💬 Imagine if you could book your cancer screening appointment with a quick WhatsApp chat? Patients in a pilot in Islington can now do just that, with the help of AI virtual receptionist, Asa. And they’re giving it great reviews. "To be able to book a cervical screening through the WhatsApp virtual assistant Asa was quick and easy. This will make managing the appointment so much more convenient” Patient in Islington Uptake of cervical screening is very low in some communities in London and the scheme aims to improve this. Patients in the pilot can book, reschedule and cancel cervical cancer screening appointments 24/7 via WhatsApp, without needing another app or website. They can ask questions about the procedure and get directions and travel information to help them get there on time. 🚌 The pilot is run by North Central London Integrated Care Board (ICB), the Islington GP Federation, technology provider SPRYT and the University of Surrey. For now this is only available to Islington GP Federation patients in the pilot, for booking cervical cancer screening. The plan is to roll out the scheme across North Central London next, then hopefully further afield, eventually extending it to other services.
