As we come to the end of the winter season, it’s important to remember that following Standard Infection Control Precautions (SICPs) is essential all year round - to help prevent infection in healthcare settings across NHSScotland. Using SICPs is essential for NHS colleagues - whether infection is known to be present or not. Following these procedures year-round, helps to support the health of the people of Scotland and reduce pressure on NHS services. Congratulations to our Head of Business Finance, Ana Vercosa, who appeared as a guest speaker at a Scottish Minority Ethnic Womens Network (SMEWN) event last week, in celebration of International Women’s Day (IWD). The theme of this year’s IWD was Accelerate Action, and with data from the World Economic Forum estimating that it will take until roughly 2158 to reach full gender parity, it’s so important we work together to tackle gender inequality. The SMEWN event featured a variety of prominent ethnic minority women who shared their experiences and insights on gender equality and overcoming barriers. Attendees heard Ana, and other women, tell their stories, what challenges they have faced and what successes they have achieved.
