Unpopular opinion: recruitment shouldn't focus on the candidate as the primary consideration. There have been so many posts from recruiters and candidates alike, and a few businesses, for at least the last year on LinkedIn, specifically bashing those companies that don't focus on the candidate when recruiting, that provide a poor candidate experience. The whole reason the candidate is having a poor experience is that a company is trying to hire and is doing it badly. So to us, it makes sense that the focus of recruitment, should in fact, be the company doing the hiring. Let's take a look at two of the top complaints: 🔴 Vague, buzz-word-filled, expansive job descriptions that lead to confusing, misaligned interviews and frustrating experiences for both sides. 🔴 Unclear required behaviours for the role, lack of clearly stated expectations, deliverables, expectations, challenges and responsibilities for the role, leading on occasion to mismatch of candidate expectation and the reality of the role, resulting in a pretty quick churn. BOTH of these common complaints are the responsibility of the company, NOT the candidate. If companies focus on really getting into what "good" looks like for them as a business, what the behaviours and deliverables are for the role, along with being honest about the challenges, they'll be able to write better job descriptions, and attract candidates who are confident they have the skills needed to succeed in the role, knowing exactly what will be expected of them before they apply. That's why candidates shouldn't be the focus of recruitment - the hiring company should. #recruitment #talentacquisition #talentsolutions
