We fight to ensure that no one has to face poor mental health alone.
About us
We're Norfolk and Waveney Mind, your local mental health charity offering an extensive range of mental health services, along with associated training, advice and information. We believe that no one should have to face poor mental health alone and with the right support and resources anybody can create a life that feels meaningful to them. We work in our communities to raise awareness and reduce the stigma associated with mental health. With over one in four people experiencing a mental health problem and 104 people choosing to take their own lives each week in the UK, the need for good quality mental health support, advice and information is vital. As a local Mind, we are independent charity - we raise our own funds, and we have our own Board of Trustees who are responsible for how we’re run. Being local we understand our community and tailor our services in response to what people need most. Being part of the Mind network means we benefit from shared support, knowledge and ideas. Nationally, Mind gives advice and support to anyone who needs it, campaigns to improve services and raise awareness. We work in partnership with Mind nationally and the other local Minds in our network to deliver high quality services to anyone who needs them. For a full list of our services, please visit www.norfolkandwaveneymind.org.uk

Today, Norfolk and Waveney Mind recognises #WorldSuicidePreventionDay Those that are bereaved to suicide can find themselves at a higher risk of making an attempt on their own life. Support following loss can be found through our Suicide Bereavement Service. This is just one way we support suicide prevention throughout Norfolk and Waveney. We spoke to Emily, who sadly lost her brother Tom to suicide last year. Emily shared with us her story and the journey she went on to find the support she needed. Tomorrow, Norfolk and Waveney Mind will be recognising #WorldSuicidePreventionDay Suicide prevention can seem like an impossible mountain to climb. We still battle the stigma attached to suicide every day and many people find it hard to talk about. This can be because they are worried about how others will react or because they cannot find the words. They might hide how they are feeling and convince friends or family that they are coping. This World Suicide Prevention Day we ask you to consider what prevention looks like for you. Sometimes it is about support, other times it is the simple things like a coffee or a hug. We’ve put together a short video highlighting ways in which we can look after ourselves and others, and invite you to tell us where suicide prevention starts for you?
