About us

Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (NHFT) is dedicated to providing care with compassion. We deliver many of the NHS services that are provided outside of hospital and in the community such as physical, mental health and speciality services. Our 4,400 staff are committed to delivering care as close to home as possible for our patients, service users and carers. So where it is possible and appropriate to do so, we aim to support people in their own homes. We offer care to more than 700,000 people in our local community and our services are delivered from a large number of sites including home based, hospitals, GP surgeries and clinics. We have sites across the county including in Corby, Daventry, Kettering, Northampton and East Northants. To view all our sites visit our Locations pages. • Thank you to everyone who attended our recent Baby Loss Awareness Conference. We hope you found the event a useful learning opportunity. Today is the final day of Baby Loss Awareness Week. Grieving is a normal reaction to a loss and is unique to each person. It is experienced in different ways. Many people grow to manage the feelings that come with grief; however, some people need support with their mental health, particularly when the symptoms of grief: 💜 feel continuous and become harder to cope with over time 💜 become so intense and overwhelming that they significantly impact your day-to-day living 💜 cause an individual to experience symptoms including PTSD and /or severe depression If you or someone you know is experiencing these symptoms, speak to your midwife, health visitor, GP or mental health service who can refer you to the Maternal Loss Psychology Service. For more details, visit: https://lnkd.in/edDVknbQ

  • Today, members of staff from NHFT are joining with many others from across the county at the Northamptonshire AHP Conference. AHPs are Allied Health Professionals who make up the third largest clinical workforce in health and care. AHPs consist of 14 different professions including various therapists, paramedics, physiotherapists and dietitians.    We are delighted to be in the room with colleagues from the local authorities, Northamptonshire ICB, the General Practice Alliance, St Andrews and the University Hospitals of Northamptonshire. Our CEO, Angela Hillery welcomed everyone to the day with her opening address, and she was followed by a variety of different keynote speakers, with the focus of the day on Quality and Safety. A number of presentations of best practice were shared on themes such as: addressing inefficiencies, quality improvement, moving and handling and personalised care. There were plenty of opportunities to network and share ideas across the system, which all contribute towards improved quality and safety.

  • Today is #WorldMentalHealthDay (10 Oct) - talking about our mental health can help us cope better with life’s ups and downs. This year’s theme is workplace mental health.   Work can have a huge impact on our mental health. It can be good for our mental health, giving us a sense of purpose and providing opportunities to connect with others. But it can also be a source of stress and contribute to developing or worsening mental health problems.   Some top tips to improve your mental health at work include: 👉 Talk about your feelings – Colleagues, partners, friends and family can all be a good sounding board 👉 Be mindful of your activity levels – Regular movement can boost your self-esteem and help you concentrate and sleep better. 👉 Eat well – Regular healthy meals, plus plenty of water is ideal 👉 Manage your relationships – Working in a supportive team is important. Work politics can be a real challenge and may need to be addressed. 👉Do something you’re good at - Doing an activity or hobby you enjoy can change your mood and help reduce stress. If you, or anyone you know in Northamptonshire, needs support, the mental health number – 0800 448 0828 – is available 24/7 for anyone who wants to talk about their mental health issues. https://lnkd.in/dBM-nrV #WMHD24Today
