#MeetOurPatient Meet Bear, a brave therapy dog who has roared back to fitness after life-changing spinal surgery! 🐻 This resilient two-year-old ChiPooPom (Chihuahua Poodle Pomeranian crossbreed) faced a daunting challenge when he became paralysed, but thanks to the expert care at NDSR, he’s back on his paws. Our talented Neurology Clinician, Christophe Dupont, led the intricate surgery to repair Bear’s damaged disc. Christophe explained: “Bear came to us with paraplegia and a painful slipped disc. It was crucial to act quickly. We surgically removed the displaced spinal disc material to relieve the pressure on his spinal cord. The surgery went well, but we were anxious during recovery because nerve function restoration can be unpredictable.” Clare, Bear's devoted owner, shared her gratitude: “I can’t thank Christophe and the NDSR team enough. Bear is not just my therapy dog—he’s my lifesaver. After a breakdown in 2015, Bear helped me rediscover the joy in life. We’re inseparable, and he means the world to me. He even has his own Instagram and TikTok pages, @tinybeartales!" We are now recruiting for a Radiographer to join our team! We are seeking a Grade 6 or Grade 7 Radiographer to work in the Diagnostic Imaging department of our specialist veterinary hospital in Bletchingley, Surrey. The role would involve all aspects of imaging but particularly focus on acquisition of CT and MRI and X-ray studies. This role is a fixed-term contract for 1 year starting the end of September. Her love for surgery, anesthesia, and neurology makes her a perfect fit for NDSR, where she’s eager to continue learning and growing. Our green credentials continue to grow! 💚 In partnership with SageTech Veterinary, we're going to pilot an innovative anaesthetic gas capture technology to help prevent harmful greenhouse gases from entering the atmosphere! SageTech’s gas capture technology works by capturing the exhaled waste anaesthetic agent by safely adsorbing it into a specially developed reusable capture canister. #MeetOurPatient Lovely Lurcher Olive has had surgery after fully rupturing both of her cruciate ligaments in the space of two weeks! While one knee has been repaired, the other damaged knee will be repaired soon. She's taken the surgery like a champ, despite being at the hospital for three nights. She also fell in love with RVN Ashley, one of the nurses who has been taking care of her. Olive's owner Becki said: "I'm so proud of my girl, I've missed her SO much and couldn't wait to bring her home for some TLC and rest. "Thanks to the Ortho team for your exemplary level of care, and for helping Olive get back on her feet (literally!)"
