Yesterday marked suicide prevention day. In more recent periods, local and national suicide rates have begun to rise, with Nottinghamshire County's suicide rates increasing from 8.7 per 100,000 people (in 2016-18) to 10.3 per 100,000 (in 2019-21). These figures are slowly rising, services around the country are under constant pressure. Services and funding must be allocated accordingly to those most in need or risk.

Our mission is to serve the community with exemplar psychological counselling services which is open to all cultures.
About us
We are an independent charity based in Nottingham providing universal counselling and psychological therapy support for any individual of working aged 16 and above living in Nottingham and the East Midlands. Our goal is to deliver tailored counselling and support for all regardless of background or circumstances. Founded in 1977, NCS all counselling and therapeutic services are accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). We are winners of several business awards for business innovation and customer service including, Nottingham Post Business Awards as a Not-for-Profit Organisation. All our counsellors are highly qualified and experienced in working with people from all walks of life. They have excellent listening skills and are trained to listen to you without judgment to help understand your current difficulties, past experiences, present anxieties and concerns about the future. When you visit one of our counsellors, they are trained to help you to make your own choices and decisions about the changes you want to make in your life. They are there to listen and support you, not to give advice or tell you how you should feel and what you should do. We are a leading EAP provider for the East Midlands and have been providing external professional support and staff counselling for over 10 years. Our services are designed to help organisations put in place the best programme of action to enable their employees to resolve personal or work-related issues that are having a negative impact on their work. We provide counselling placements, practice and experience, supervision and mentoring to support the development of the future generation of counsellors. Contact us to find out more about our counselling placements, volunteering and how to apply.

Like many special charities it’s a tough time! Knowing that local businesses are walking by your side is uplifting. This week the John Lewis & Partners design team came in to help with design plans, provide some support with ideas and help to update the place so it echoes our vision for hope and wellbeing.

Working in a dynamic and collaborative approach we hope to prevent crisis situations and MTVH their residents feeling supported, encouraged and enabled to live their lives to their full potential. Therapy sees life changing results and in this creative collaboration we are excited to see a transformative journey.

Conflict vs Disagreement What's the difference? Disagreements are natural and healthy, focusing on specific issues without personal attacks, fostering understanding and compromise. 🗣️💬 On the other hand, conflicts often escalate emotionally, involve hurtful behaviors or unresolved issues, and can strain relationships if not addressed constructively💥 By navigating disagreements with respect and empathy, and addressing conflicts through effective communication and compromise, couples can strengthen their bond and foster a healthier partnership. #RelationshipConflict #DisagreementVsConflict #HealthyCommunication #ConflictResolution #RelationshipSupport #LoveAndSupport #CommunicationSkills #EmpathyInRelationships #BuildingStrongBonds #RelationshipAdvice #CoupleTherapy #EmotionalIntimacy #HealthyMarriage #RelationshipWellness #NavigatingRelationships #Nottingham #Nottinghamshire #fyp #love #EastMidlands

NCS earlier this year was awarded funding by the national lottery and Nottingham City Council to deliver mental health support for refugees and asylum seeker’s through therapy services. Yesterday we led a training session for therapists on the stories and experiences of this cohort of individuals, therapeutic learning, and communication aids/skills if people have language barriers or are struggling to verbalise their experiences. An insightful and rich afternoon which left everyone enthused by the need for the work. NCS has a rich understanding of equal access, equility, diversity and inclusion to service delivery locally and are excited by our continued dedication to provide quality therapy services. A thank you to our therapist for sharing her clinical insights, Richard Holmes and Geoff Curl for there enormous passion and knowledge in the area.
