It was a fantastic week in Johannesburg with our partners MTN South Africa launching MTN Ads at Seamless Africa! Tanya Field also had the pleasure of sharing the stage with Jason Probert, Dr. Alet Smith (B.Eng, M.Eng, Ph.D. Big Data), Vincent Maher and Anton Grutzmacher to discuss how telco customer intelligence is fuelling digital growth. Key discussion points included the removal of fraudulent traffic from the advertising ecosystem, the importance of data privacy and the use of telecoms networks to enable more relevant, privacy-safe advertising. Practical applications, such as enhancing credit scores for unbanked individuals and improving economic activity through data-driven insights were highlighted. Yesterday marked the 30th anniversary of a pivotal moment in internet history: the release of third-party cookies by Netscape on 13th October 1994.
