Last chance to see the Beyond the Bassline exhibition at the The British Library, celebrating 500 years of Black British Music - closing next Monday 26th August. To coincide with this landmark show, we recently premiered 'iwoyi; within the echo' from artist filmmakers Tayo Rapoport and Rohan Ayinde, which translates their transportive multi-channel installation into a powerful film. Developed with Errol Anderson and Alex Rita of Touching Bass, the installation was commissioned by The British Library and curator Dr Aleema Gray. Francesca Hayward, Jeremy O’Harris and Sumayya Vally feature in our latest series, An Invitation to Dream, made in collaboration with Moncler. The three films celebrate the new exhibition presented by Moncler at Milano Centrale railway station for Salone del Mobile, curated by NOWNESS founder Jefferson Hack and captured by photographer Jack Davison. The exhibition features portraits of 12 Dreamers, some of the most influential creatives shaping contemporary culture, including Isamaya Ffrench, Rina Sawayama and Remo Ruffini among others. The stories of these first three Dreamers are captured through the lens of director Stella Scott. The first film focuses on Kenyan-born British ballet dancer Francesca Hayward, capturing the co-existence of reality versus dreaming within the world of ballet and its fairytale image. The second follows the story of Jeremy O. Harris, writer of the acclaimed Slave Play, as he revisits the unrushed and unedited thought processes that reinforce his craft and his controversial study of race, identity and sexuality. The last film shares the dialogue of Sumayya Vally, a South African architect travelling through the streets of Whitechapel on an open top bus ride musing on the London locations that informed her 2021 Serpentine Pavilion. The three films are available on NOWNESS: https://lnkd.in/eV9T2uW9

Calling all artists... We are exploring the role of A.I. for artists and future filmmaking. We would love if our valued network could spare 4-5 minutes sharing their thoughts on emerging technologies and the future of film and creative industry. We want to know how you feel as a creator. Is the outlook ultimately Utopian or Dystopian? Does the future of creative work look more exciting or uneasy? All thoughts welcome here - https://lnkd.in/dRx9kCru We thank you hugely in advance for your time.
