Had a great chat with my son yesterday — he’s approaching his final year exams at university! We talked about career opportunities and preparing for life after uni, and he told me, “Dad, I’m going to do a Master’s in International Finance.” He then laid out his vision for what comes next, and I couldn’t help but realise — this lad is far more mature, intelligent, and driven than I was when I graduated! But just like me, he’s been working throughout university, knows all the best places to eat, and seems to be mates with the whole world! What gives me immense pride is that he’s taken on the good traits and natural skills I have, added his own, and (with a bit of influence from his mum too) shaped himself into an incredible young man. Masha’Allah — I couldn’t be prouder! He also agrees that my mum is allowed to fat-shame me because, in his words, “Dad, you do carry a few extra pounds… and you do love a kebab!” Can’t argue with that! 😂 Masha’Allah! Make your kids your friends, not just your kids. Enjoy the banter, guide them with love and support, and watch them grow into the champions they’re meant to be! My only disappointment?
