A new, training provider offering a growing range of land-based courses in Cumbria.
About us
NR Training is a trading name of Newton Rigg Ltd (NRL) - a local, independent organisation formed to protect the future of specialist land-based education in Cumbria for the benefit of generations to come. Our head office is based at the Grizedale Hub, on the Newton Rigg campus, and offers facilities for office space, room hire, conferencing, education and training with the aim of supporting the rural community with skills’ development, knowledge transfer and health and wellbeing, in a holistic approach. We work collaboratively with many local organisations to understand local need, and we are members of GTA England and an approved provider with UK Rural Skills. Our UKPRN number is 10089834. The Hub is also our base for the Rural Business School which currently offers courses in livestock management. We also offer education and training from our offsite location at Lowther Castle and Gardens, where our School of Horticulture delivers level 2 and level 3 full cost courses in Practical Horticulture and Garden Design. NRL also manage Newton Rigg Equestrian Training and Events. Keep checking our socials for updates of new and exciting opportunities becoming available.

Today has been a day of celebration for our Gateway to Rural Skills learners as they received their OCN London certificates. It was great to catch up, with those able to attend, the Ecology tutor and NR Training Chair of Trustees. All learners are putting their new skills to great use. Well done all ⭐️

Today we worked with a brilliant team of volunteers from Balfour Beatty plc & National Highways A66 teams. They were helping us to prepare for our return to the Newton Rigg Estate to develop our new horticultural training for the NRT School of Horticulture. We had Millie, Mally & Ben from Wigan, Paige from Manchester, Luke from Cockermouth and Michaela from Huddersfield. They came well equipped with shovels, rakes, gloves and loads of energy! What a fantastic job they made for clearing the area we will develop into our area for teaching plant propagation. Thanks for the support ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
