Saturdays are for… Thank you Tate people and National Society for Education in Art and Design (NSEAD) people for a perfect Autumn gathering yesterday.

So many of our members are working to address the climate emergency in their practice as art educators. The latest edition of AD magazine is not just a call to action, it offers models of practice and inspiration on every page. Praise to guest editor, the fabulous Dr Emese Hall of University of Exeter who chairs our Art Education for the Environment & Climate Emergency group. Also the wonderful Ackroyd Harvey for the beautiful cover and poster. They are joined by Bridget McKenzie Sarah Blackie Tabitha Jussa and many others.

The future looks bright on this sunny Friday afternoon. The art and design PGCE trainee teachers here at University of Brighton are going to be a workforce to be reckoned with. I popped in to meet them today, just missing Sam Hobbs inspiring workshop. Look at these messages of hope and strength- a community with purpose. And members of National Society for Education in Art and Design (NSEAD) for many years to come I hope.

Dynamic Governance is the power behind the curtain in any organisation. Working with the National Society for Education in Art and Design (NSEAD) Council is just fantastic. I’m always in awe of the incredible folk sitting around the table. A dozen of us met this weekend in Earls Barton, hosted by our friends Community Union, with more dropping in through the day online. We spent a really good day looking back at an incredible five years, and ahead at what we want in the future for our organisation, for art education, and how we will get there. “We are the chickens that lay the eggs! “ is a phrase I won’t forget! Thanks everyone for a brilliant day. 🐓🥚

Meet the National Society for Education in Art and Design (NSEAD) Curriculum superheroes, our art, craft & design lesson creator team. Between them they bring decades of creativity and classroom ‘experterience’ (©️ Emma McCrea 😉) What a joy to spend two days with them in Birmingham this week for the Oak National Academy residential induction. Thy have a big job ahead, producing the resources that will be used by thousands of teachers and learners - the most comprehensive set of tools and resources we have ever seen for our subject. Yay! Go team!
