It's World Mental Health Day, with a focus on mental health in the workplace. How you feel doesn't stop when you walk into work, so today we reaffirm our commitment to create a supportive environment every day, all year round. Here at Nu we have mental health first aiders and mental health champions trained by the lovely Bernadette McKnight an instructor for MHFA England. We've made space both physically onsite with our wellness cabin and psychologically with our attitude to mental health. #WMHD24 #WorldMentalHealthDay #MentalHealthAtWork

Largest collection of high precision Blood Lead Isotope data collected and used to assess the contribution of soil contamination from historical industrial activity on blood lead levels. The lead isoptopes were measured on a Nu Plasma 2 MC-ICP-MS
Expertise in health risk and exposure assessment (ISSeP), isotope geochemistry (Laboratoire G-TIME, ULB), mineralogy (Uliège), and toxicology/epidemiology (CHU-Liège) were brought together to trace the origin of lead in blood of a population exposed to contaminated soil in Liège, Belgium. Among various factors (exposure to contaminated soil, smoking, age of dwelling, and the presence of lead pipes at home), the isotopic signature of blood lead remains strongly influenced by the presence of lead refined from Australian ores imported to Europe, even more than two decades after the complete withdrawal of leaded gasoline. More thorogenic blood lead isotope signatures are also observed in certain populations of foreign origin. Although blood lead levels have decreased in the Belgian population over the last 20 years, blood lead still records the isotopic signature of lead ores mined 15,000 km away, likely because the signature of Australian lead is highly resilient in the current stock of lead in use, as well as in environmental sources. All of our previous webinars are available on demand. Use the link below for another chance to find out about sequential measurement of all noble gases in gas-poor geological samples. We had the pleasure to welcome Rita Parai, Assistant Professor at Washington University in St Louis to present her work using their Noblesse. John Saxton our Noble Gas Product Manager gave a short introduction. Watch now, https://ow.ly/n23650S0lZo #TOF #ICPMS #Webinar

Nu Instruments Ltd reposted this
#ICYMI! Last week at the GSA Connects meeting, Corey Wall and the PCIGR team (Dominique Weis, James Scoates), in collaboration with Nu Instruments Ltd (Daniel Roberts), presented high-precision results for chemical abrasion, isotope-dilution #TIMS U-Pb #geochronology. The newly installed 10e13-ohm low-noise Faraday cups on PCIGR’s Nu TIMS allows for improved data collection, increased precision, and reduced analytical time. These new Faraday cups provide optimal signal-to-noise ratios for a range of sample sizes, starting as small as 5 pg of Pb! Reach out to any of us if you have questions or have a project we can help with!

For our latest publication of the month we highlight the work that was performed on the Attom HR-ICP-MS at the British Geological Survey . Using U-Pb geochronology, this interdisciplinary study shows that western Canada was tectonically active and subject to fault-controlled, hydrothermal dolomitization during the Middle Cambrian (Miaolingian Epoch) to Middle Ordovician (488.1 ± 18.8 Ma). https://lnkd.in/ehYrvyDe #POM #Attom #HRICPMS #Geological
