Nula

Today, I am excited to announce a new direction for Nula. Over the past few years, I have spent many waking hours thinking about how we can bring people onboard the climate movement. The oft-touted ‘value-action gap’ must have been one of my most searched phrases on Google in 2023–clearly desperate for an insight that would move our work at Nula forward. It wasn’t until I made the decision for health reasons to take time out of work and get back into nature that I found the concept of nature connection and the work of Miles Richardson, a professor at the University of Derby. Nature connection, in its simplest form, “captures our emotional relationship with nature and whether we feel a part of nature”. It’s something I couldn’t have felt further from at the time if I tried. We are increasingly recognising that the breakdown of our human-nature relationship is the root cause of our climate and biodiversity crises. That leaves Nula with a fundamental question of how can we, as a company, try and engage workforces to prioritise sustainable action? That’s why we are taking a new direction at Nula: a nature-first approach. Two pilot studies – one for individuals, starting in mid-October, and a workplace pilot that will start in mid-March–is the result. These programmes aim to: • Help you embed nature connection across the heart of your organisation and the workforce • Get you or your team outside and connecting with nature through the 5 pathways for 2-3 hours a week • Measure the impact on you and your team’s wellbeing, health, and overall productivity   If you or anyone you know are interested in reconnecting themselves or their business to nature, please reach out or tag them. Running a business isn’t easy and sometimes you have to slow down to speed up. Last year, I decided to take a ‘fallow year’ and work on Nula slowly whilst joining the brilliant team at WONDR part-time. After some time away and a reset, I’m back working on Nula, building out our services to help leaders understand how their team think and feel about sustainability and ultimately embed it across their workforce. It’s been great to kickstart the year with Nula being accepted onto the WeNetwork's Elevate accelerator. The programme, which started last week, is an exciting opportunity to drive the business forward, learn from numerous experts and engage with the rest of my brilliant cohort.
