We are excited to announce Eric Asimov, Chief Wine Critic of The New York Times, will be taking the stage as part of Pinot Noir New Zealand 2025 next February. This marks Eric’s first visit to New Zealand, a significant milestone for both the event and the New Zealand wine industry. Eric will discuss the concept of ‘Place’. With decades of experience critiquing food and wine for The New York Times, his perspective provides valuable insights to how 'place' shapes the identity of New Zealand Pinot Noir on the global stage. Our conference Chair, Michael Henley, shared “Pinot Noir New Zealand 2025 is delighted to be hosting Eric Asimov. Bringing a deep understanding of wine and a passion for storytelling, Eric will be well-known to many in the wine world. The inclusion of Eric in the stellar lineup of speakers at Pinot Noir New Zealand 2025, along with the honour of welcoming him to our shores for the first time, is very exciting. We are looking forward to his insights, which I’m sure will inspire both trade and wine enthusiasts alike,” For over two decades as Chief Wine Critic for The New York Times, Eric has shaped wine appreciation for a broad audience from consumers to creators. His astute reviews and engaging writing style have earned him global recognition as a leading wine commentator. Eric once noted “…what sets wine apart are the memories after consumption. Wine’s power to conjure up a moment, an emotion and a sense of time and place is uncanny”. This belief resonates deeply with Pinot Noir NZ . Tickets for Pinot Noir New Zealand 2025 are now available at pinotnz.co.nz The event will feature tastings, panel discussions, and opportunities to connect with leading winemakers, offering a comprehensive exploration of New Zealand Pinot Noir. This is a unique chance to experience the rich diversity of Pinot Noir and celebrate what makes New Zealand an exceptional place for this revered grape to thrive. #pinotnz #pinotnoirnz25 #pinotnz25 #nzwine

NZW was delighted to participate in the inaugural Sustainability in Drinks event held in London last week. The two-day conference began with keynote speeches from JancisRobinson.com and Judith Batchelar OBE and an expert panel which discussed ‘Creating Value Though Sustainability’. On the second day, the exhibition continued with further sustainability talks on a wide range of topics, and our own Meagan Littlejohn spoke eloquently at the panel discussion on the Race to Net Zero. The event was an opportunity for NZW to showcase wines from each of New Zealand’s wine regions and share their sustainability stories, as well as the New Zealand industry’s commitment to protecting the environment with our recently launched Roadmap to Net Zero 2050 (more here: https://bit.ly/3T9Dmqa). The event fostered collaboration, networking, idea sharing and information gathering between visitors and exhibitors committed to the goal of strengthening sustainability efforts across the drinks industry. #nzwine #sustainability #SID24 Photo credit: Thomas Skovsende

Congratulations to acclaimed restaurant Quay in Sydney, which won the first ever Best Listing of New Zealand Wines award at the prestigious Australia's Wine List of the Year Awards. The awards recognise the time, skill, and resources put into developing a wine list, and NZW had the privilege of presenting this award to the team at Quay whose sommelier team had curated a superb list of New Zealand wines showcasing some of the best New Zealand has to offer. Climate change is one of the most pressing challenges facing the wine industry, and it's our goal to be a net zero industry by 2050. The recently launched New Zealand Wine Roadmap to Net Zero 2050 will play a crucial role in presenting tools and opportunities to help winegrowers mitigate those challenges. It outlines milestones and identifies key emission-reduction opportunities applicable across vineyards and wineries to help us reach our net zero goal. Here's some of our sustainability champions on this important project:  Edwin Massey - General Manager Sustainability, New Zealand Winegrowers  Fabian Yukich - Chair, New Zealand Winegrowers Environment Committee Peter Jones - Director, The Landing Josh Barclay - Sustainability Manager, Whitehaven Wine Meagan Littlejohn - Programme Manager, Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand (SWNZ) Read the Roadmap here: https://bit.ly/3T9Dmqa #nzwine #altogetherunique

This week we were thrilled to be back in New York City hosting an exclusive masterclass for trade and media - our first masterclass in NYC since 2019, and we couldn’t be more excited to return to such a dynamic market. The class spotlighted New Zealand’s incredible red wines, featuring 7 varietals from 6 unique regions, all led by Master of Wine Jane Skilton. She was joined by Beth Forrest of Forrest Wines and Benjamin Weaver of Churton for an insightful, in-depth discussion and tasting that showcased the diversity and quality of red wines from the region, including Pinot Noir, Gamay, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Syrah and more. As the US remains New Zealand Wine’s top export market, this event was the perfect opportunity to showcase the country's exceptional red wines, just in time for cooler weather in the States 🍇🇳🇿 #nzwine #altogetherunique #wine #nyc #winemasterclass

Last week we visited the Nordics where we held two great events in Sweden and Denmark alongside our friends at Wine Australia. Across both events we welcomed over 600 guests who were all keen to discover more about #nzwine and #aussiewine. With over 400 different wines from 70 producers represented, there was a lot to explore! Three full masterclasses showed the contemporary side of winemaking in the respective countries, featuring different varieties, alternative styles and production methods. New Zealand wine producers and exporters had the opportunity to meet with key trade customers and partners as well as consumers in both markets, and there was certainly lots of interest and excitement for our wines. Thanks to everyone who participated in the events for making it such a huge success!

Next week we are excited to be heading back to the Nordics on tour! We've teamed up with Wine Australia for special trade and consumer wine tastings to be staged in Stockholm on 17 September and Copenhagen on 19 September. The Australian and New Zealand Tasting is an exciting collaboration – being held for the second time in the Nordics – to showcase the quality and diversity of Aussie and NZ wines to our friends in Sweden and Denmark. Events in both cities include trade tastings, masterclasses and evening consumer tastings where attendees can taste 400+ wines from 70 wineries under the one roof and meet winemakers and winery owners. Trade and consumers can get up to date with the latest vintages from iconic producers, discover alternative grape varieties and new wave styles, taste minimal intervention wines and natural wines, and meet organic specialists and biodynamic producers. The masterclasses will take a look at contemporary styles of wine from both countries. We are delighted to have Chloe Somerset from Cable Bay Vineyards, presenting in the masterclass in Sweden, while Andrew Donaldson from Akitu will be presenting in Denmark.
