A core design consideration for schlaich bergermann partner sbp during the Olympic Aquatic Centre project was the sustainability goals. 🌍🌿 Key sustainability highlights include: ♻️ Bio-sourced materials: Achieved 69kg/m², surpassing the 24kg/m² goal. ♻️ Lightweight timber: 2800m³ used to minimise structural material in the roof. ♻️ Low carbon concrete: 35% used to reduce environmental impact. ♻️ Energy efficiency: Custom concave roof geometry reduces hall volume, saving up to 25% on heating. ♻️ Optimised design: A single 70m pool instead of multiple pools, reducing building length. ♻️ Solar power: 4,680 m² of photovoltaic panels, one of France's largest urban solar farms, covering 25% of the centre's electricity needs. This project sets a new standard in sustainable sports architecture.
