We’ve seen so many instances of both departments competing with each other unhealthily, scrapping for each other's credit and not working as they should. The reality is that none of these teams can flourish without the other. We read an interesting blog by the wonderful Moni Oloyede and she’s dropping some absolute gems on this subject. The key to harmony really lies in aligning on what each other's needs are and creating shared/supportive paths to get there. Not selfish goals that make one look better than the other. Marketing, make sure you know exactly what type of leads or activities sales need from you to hit their targets and focus on providing those (This also impacts your performance by the way. MQLs ain’t nothing if they ain’t converting. Just saying.) Sales, if #marketing is batting for more budget on blind activities that don’t necessarily bring revenue directly but you know they bring that sweet brand recall that helps open doors for you with prospects, be the best wingmen/wingwomen/wingpeople ever and bat for extra budget alongside them.
