We’re pleased to be welcoming students from the World Maritime University (WMU) to our London office once again. Supporting the next generation of maritime professionals is something we take seriously, and this visit provides a great opportunity to exchange knowledge and ideas. @Raal Harris, our Chief Creative Officer, and @Catherine Logie, our Director of Certification and Professional Development, will be sharing insights on the evolution of maritime training, the role of e-learning, and the key challenges shaping the industry’s future. It’s always valuable to hear fresh perspectives from those entering the sector, and we look forward to a day of discussion, learning, and collaboration. #MaritimeTraining

Tracking regulatory changes and ensuring crew and shore-based teams have access to the latest documentation is vital for compliance—but it can be a demanding and time-intensive task. Digital documentation tools significantly reduce this burden by offering: Remote access to documents for multiple stakeholders. Automatic updates, ensuring all records remain current. Uninterrupted availability, even in offline environments. Purpose-built for the maritime industry, cloud-based digital solutions centralise document management, eliminating the inefficiencies of email and manual file transfers. The first ammonia-powered vessels are due to enter service in 2025. While ammonia’s use as a marine fuel can dramatically cut greenhouse gas emissions, it also presents new safety risks that the industry must address. Key considerations include: Toxicity and health hazards of ammonia Flammability and unique fire risks Specialised equipment for storage and handling OTG provides e-learning covering the most prominent new fuels, including ammonia, to equip maritime professionals with the skills needed to manage these risks effectively. Managing fleet maintenance through spreadsheets may feel like a digital solution, but it introduces risks like data errors, missed maintenance, and costly downtime. Moving to a marine-specific digital Planned Maintenance System (PMS) like TM Master ensures: Centralised, real-time maintenance tracking Accurate inventory forecasting and cost control Streamlined approval processes to avoid bottlenecks Ready to make your planned maintenance smarter? Explore how a digital PMS can enhance your operations. https://lnkd.in/ed3Rt5uk

During InterManager's meeting this week, panellists tackled big issues facing ship and crew management, including decarbonisation and operational challenges. Our Chief Creative Officer, Raal Harris, explained during the panel that “digitalisation isn’t happening in our industry for the sake of it, it began as a means of gaining efficiencies, but increasingly, it is becoming essential to maintaining the viability of operations.” He cited the example of EU’s FuelEU Maritime Regulation, which requires vessels over 5,000 GT trading in the EU and European Economic Area to meet greenhouse gas (GHG) intensity reduction targets and explained that the complexity of collecting and reporting data, staying compliant and avoiding penalties was almost impossible without software. Raal noted that Lloyd's Register OneOcean's newly released Risk Manager FuelEU brings together in-house ship models, multi-objective route optimisation, and high-quality weather forecast data to help users make informed decisions about fuel choices, enabling them to holistically manage their FuelEU strategy while optimising the commercial outcome of voyages. Such software can also minimise workload by using automatic import of Noon Reports to provide real-time emissions data. “It’s hard to see how it is possible to compete in modern ship operations without a comprehensive digital strategy,” Raal said, “and this is one area in which ship managers can differentiate and demonstrate their economy of scale.” #maritime #decarbonisation #shipmanagement

Ammonia as a maritime fuel offers exciting potential for reducing emissions, but it requires specialised skills to manage its risks. Seafarers need to be prepared for handling leaks, fires, and the toxic properties of ammonia. With the right training, your crew can confidently meet these challenges. OTG offers an Ammonia fuel safety e-learning that covers everything from emergency response to proper storage techniques, ensuring your seafarers are ready for the transition. Curious about how we can help you prepare your workforce for the future of ammonia-powered vessels? Read more. https://lnkd.in/d2wRbww5
