🌞 Recharge & Thrive: Prioritising Mental Health at Odqa ☕️🍰 Just as the sun powers the planet, taking time to recharge is essential for fuelling our best work. In honour of #MentalHealthAwarenessDay, we gathered for a ‘Tea & Talk’ session yesterday, embracing this year’s theme: “It’s time to prioritise mental health in the workplace.” Over delicious home-made cakes and tea, our Mental Health First Aider, Orla guided us through a reflective session, brainstorming on ways to balance and recharge - both individually and as a team. Some great tips shared were: 🎶 Using audio stimulation like music or ASMR to unwind 🌿 Engaging our senses and immersing ourselves in nature – smell a flower today! 🧘 Staying active for physical and mental agility 🐾 Connecting with furry friends, even just by making eye contact with a puppy passing by 🛁 Enjoying solo relaxation, such as a soothing salt bath 🎨 Wearing something colourful every week When we prioritise our well-being, we bring our brightest energy to everything we do. Thanks again to our fabulous Janine Anya and Gail who organised this wonderful afternoon 🌻 #MentalHealthMatters #TeamCulture #Odqa #RechargeAndThrive

🧡 Mental Health and Well-being at Odqa 🧡 At Odqa, we’re committed to creating a supportive workplace for everyone. We’re proud to announce that Orla Mallon has joined Kenny Pokwang Kwan as our second certified Mental Health First Aider! 🎉 Orla shared about her experience taking the course from MHFA England®: "I'm really grateful for the opportunity to take part in the course and to be a certified MHFAider. It’s been an eye-opening experience that has given me valuable tools to recognise and support colleagues who may be struggling. Mental health is such an important part of our overall well-being, and knowing how to help someone during difficult times is something I’m proud to do. I encourage anyone who might be struggling to reach out—whether it’s for a chat, support, or just someone to listen. By continuing to promote MHFA in the workplace, I hope we can build on the supportive environment we already have, ensuring everyone feels comfortable seeking help when they need it." We believe in the power of peer support and the importance of fostering a safe space for mental health conversations. Thanks to our fabulous teammates like Orla and Kenny, we’re building a culture where everyone feels supported, valued, and comfortable reaching out when they need help. #WorkplaceMentalHealth #MHFA #WellbeingAtWork #PeerSupport #Odqa

🌟 Ray of Light at Odqa 🌟 🤔 What is it like to intern with Odqa's Technology team for your summer? 🎥 Featuring Isabelle's Journey during her 6-week summer internship with our Technology Team 🚀 🔍 My Role at Odqa: "I study Materials at Imperial College London / Imperial Materials. My role at Odqa is to help George make sure the solar receiver doesn't melt itself! When the power of the sun is focused onto the receiver by the mirrors, the receiver can reach temperatures above 1000C - it's really important that the receiver is able to transfer as much heat as possible to the system without being damaged." 📚 Expect the Unexpected: “The most unexpected and interesting thing I've learned here is that there isn't a clear right answer to a lot of situations! It's really up to you to justify your decisions and to problem solve effectively - I find that very liberating considering the way STEM is generically taught." 🌞 Other Ray of Light: "If I could swap roles with anyone in the team, I’d choose Kenny Pokwang. He works on so many cool projects at once and really gets to determine the fundamentals of our designs!" #Odqa #Technology #SolarThermal #STEM #Innovation #RenewableEnergy #WorkExperience #CareerGrowth #TeamSpotlight

🌞 Celebrating a Bright Anniversary on the Summer Solstice! 🌞 One year ago today, on the longest day of the year, we demonstrated Odqa's breakthrough air-based solar receiver in the first real sun test in Cyprus. 🇨🇾 📸 Featuring photography from our Head of Engineering Mark Loasby, who captured this moment of our receiver in action at the exact minute of local noon on the solstice, when the sun reaches its highest elevation. Mark used a camera converted to be only sensitive to near-infrared light, resulting in a striking photo with unique lens flare from internal reflections.✨ As we celebrate this milestone's anniversary, we're proud of our talented team and the progress we've made. Here's to innovation, nature, and the power of the sun! 🔆 #Odqa #SolarThermal #CSP #SummerSolstice #RenewableEnergy #Innovation #PrecisionEngineering
