You just had to be there🥹🎬 Last weekend we made history with the largest Black surf trip in the UK with 70+ people joining us to catch a wave on and off shore at The Wave ! 🌊 🏄🏾 Similarities from the slopes to the shore were undeniable, so we had to bring the summer heat and the signature Off Piste Ski Trip vibe. ❄️ This ski season we moved mountains in more ways than one… We welcomed over 300+ guests across 3 resorts, with 350+ lessons delivered to enable skiers and snowboarders of all levels to master the mountain. From a Beyoncé approved aprés ski in Bulgaria, to snowboarding with Zeb Powell in Austria. Here's a look back at the incredible 2024 adventures that truly took us #OffPiste: ⚡️Kicked off the season with a return to the slopes of Bansko, Bulgaria, this time with 250+ members, a line up of talented DJ’s and club takeover by No Signal Radio. ⛷️Next, we embarked on our first luxury trip to the Italian Alps, offering an intimate experience and some serious skiing and snowboarding with some help from Ski Club of Great Britain®. 🏂We fell in love with the Alps, so when Technically Doing It and Neil Campbell hit us up to host an Off Piste aprés at their first global snowboarding event in Austria celebrating diverse talent, we assembled a team in just a few days! Off Piste Ski Trip is more than just a festival – it's about fostering connection and belonging. We're proud to be recognised as Europe's largest Black-led winter sports group, paving the way for a more inclusive (and lit) atmosphere on the slopes. This International Women's Day, we're spotlighting more incredible women from our community of founders who are striving for a better, more equitable world through their visionary businesses. Savannah Botombia, co-founder of Off Piste Ski Trip which focuses on integrating elements of Black culture, such as music, community, and cuisine, into engaging ski experiences. Isabella McDonnell, founder of Roots of Belonging and podcast Xeno hosts interdisciplinary outdoor workshops for mixed, bi-racial and multicultural people of colour to connect with nature and cultivate their belonging. Sahra-Isha Muhammad-Jones, founder of ASRA CLUB, is a run club and community space centering Muslim women in sports, wellness and sisterhood, through free run sessions, wellness programmes and intergenerational projects around nature. Our pre-trip event at Red Bull last Saturday was more than just gear and tips – it was a celebration of the community, the culture and the joys of winter sports! 🤩 Eugene Metu-Onyeka & Josh styled looks from our luxury ski rental partner Blanqo and fashion editor Emma Spedding gave our members key tips on layering 🏂Snow Camp apprentices educated our beginners on Snow Sports 101 boosting confidence before new members hit the slopes 🌟We had inspirational conversations with Athelte Andrew Alexander King and founder of Trippin Kesang Ball on the transformative power of travel and skiing 💪🏾Our physio Hopkins Langlah (HCPC) MCSP kept our bodies in check, while mental health advocates Meg Zeenat Wamithi and Mikie K. from Radical. Clothing UK explored the wellbeing benefits of winter sports with our very own Fahis Raji and yogi Shankar ♻️ Our guests shopped pre loved ski wear curated exclusively for OP by Charity Super.Mkt all while supporting good causes 🩸We gave back by donating blood to the NHS Blood and Transplant - there is an urgent appeal for more black blood donors - sign up! And of course we wrapped things up with an after party set from DJ Guy In Glasses 🎉 Massive shout out to our volunteers, partners, attendees, Gwen and the Red Bull crew for making this event so unforgettable. Last week I had the honour of attending the London Premier of The North Face, a VF Company's ski film DESCENDANCE on behalf of SNOW Magazine. The powerful documentary followed Dennis Ranalter, a Austrian born world renowned free-ride skier who vulnerably discusses his search for identity which takes him to Accra Ghana; his Fathers Country in search of the culture he could not find growing up or on the slopes. The event was a unique opportunity to connect with the wider industry, delve deeper into the film and related artworks and discuss our own experiences in relation to diversity—or lack thereof—within the winter sports industry. The evening also featured a thought provoking panel discussion led by the films producer Phil Young. These important conversations are why I co-founded Off Piste Ski Trip with some likeminded friends and why we believe it is essential for all people to be represented on the slopes!
