    Are your employees providing your business with a competitive advantage?      If they aren’t leaving reviews about your business, then no!      Employee reviews can improve your reputation and have other benefits for your company.     So many candidates are telling us they chose the company they’d applied to due to the reviews left by the employees.      As an SME, candidates will research the company when searching for a role and part of this will include seeking out employee reviews.      In some case they may not find any!      We recommend that you keep your employee reviews up to date and as recent as possible to reflect what it’s actually like right now to work at your company.     How do you get your employees to write reviews?     Our top tip for this, is to share your employee review link with each new starter after they've been with you for a period of time.     Are you truly ready to recruit?         If you’re considering hiring, here are some points to work through as you make this critical business decision:        1. Before you hire, you need to decide which part of your business needs support. It’s probably the part that you or someone else is spending too much time on, not enjoying, or it’s not your skill set!        2. The financial side of a hire is crucial. Plan out beforehand if it’s affordable and sustainable.         3. Is this a short-term fix or a long-term solution? Take time to decide if you need the role to be full-time or part-time, is a freelancer an option instead?        4. Do they need to be in the office with you? Depending on the role, the successful candidate could be remote, and this will affect how you approach your recruitment process, their induction into the company and your longer term communication plan / how you work with them.        5. What experience is needed?     Have you thought about what you'd like your new team member to achieve in the first 6-12 months in their role?    When you're recruiting, alongside the creation of a job description, it's useful to reflect on what specific projects you'd like this new starter to achieve.    Detailing 3-5 objectives that this person will be responsible for, can help you highlight during the recruitment process, who is the best person to join you.    As an example, you may be recruiting an executive assistant, with a typical EA job description, but because it's a brand new role, this new recruit is going to be leading on a few projects in their first 12 months such as:    🔹 Review our current admin processes and suggest 3 improvements to aid productivity.    🔹 Review our current office supplies contracts (last count 9!), analyse spend and reduce the no of key suppliers achieving savings of 15% across the year    If you've just had someone hand in their notice, before you start your candidate attraction project to replace them, take a look at the key achievements you'll be looking for from this new recruit and share that info through the recruitment process.    #hiringtips #recruitmentstrategy #sheffieldjobs
