The ‘Best Practice in Screen Sector Development’ report, created by Olsberg•SPI in partnership with AFCI, emphasizes the recognized need to grow workforce capacity in the screen sector. This involves expanding the pool of skilled workers, enhancing expertise, and ensuring that crews are well-prepared to handle productions of all scales and types. In the chapter “Best Practice in Developing Workforce Capacity,” the report highlights the critical elements needed to build and sustain a skilled screen sector workforce, including: - Depth of Workforce: Ensuring there are enough skilled workers to meet the ongoing production needs of the region. - Quality and Adaptability: Developing high-quality, up-to-date skills to keep pace with evolving technologies like virtual production. - Talent Pipelines: Creating clear pathways for new entrants and existing crew members to develop and grow their skills. - Industry Alignment: Ensuring that training programs match the real needs of the local and global screen industry. This chapter also examines case studies from regions like New Mexico (New Mexico Film Office), Wales, and Ireland (Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland), showing how targeted workforce strategies can strengthen local screen industries and attract large-scale productions. As demand for skilled labor in the screen sector continues to rise, a strong, adaptable workforce is crucial for regions to meet production needs and stay competitive globally. This report is essential for anyone seeking to understand best practices in workforce development. 👉 Read the full report now: https://lnkd.in/dHGiuFBg #AFCI #ScreenSector #FilmIndustry #WorkforceCapacity #WorkforceDevelopment #Productions

Last week SPI launched the first Economic Impact Study of the film incentive supporting international productions filming in Spain. SPI collaborated closely with key service producers and international content investors operating in Spain, gathering data on production spend in the country from 2019 to 2022. Data from 80 incentivised productions, including feature films and television series, show that most spend was concentrated Spain’s four key production hubs: Madrid (€194.8 million, 31 productions), Catalonia (€119.8 million, 19 productions), the Canary Islands (€106.3 million, 12 productions) and Andalusia (€95.3 million, 31 productions). Nevertheless, significant impacts can be seen in many other autonomous communities, showing the widespread impact of film and television production across areas.
