About us

One HealthTech is a grassroots community that supports and promotes women and other under-represented groups to be future leaders in health innovation. We campaign for the need and importance for better inclusion of all backgrounds, skill sets and disciplines in healthtech. The OHT community comes from many different sectors and industries and includes healthcare providers, SMEs, corporates, academia and the voluntary. Having started as a small meet-up in London in late 2015, OHT has grown to now have hubs all over the UK, including Wales and Scotland, as well as internationally, in Dublin (Ireland), Stockholm (Sweden) and Melbourne (Australia). All hubs are led by local community builders, passionate about digital health in their region. What we do OHT supports the health and care community through education, mentorship, promoting the positive effects of inclusion in technology, encouraging broader participation at meetings and events, and championing diversity in leadership. Healthtech encompasses a broad range of specialities and disciplines, spanning technology, design, medicine, business, research and many more. Our events have looked at virtual reality, securing investment in healthtech startups, disrupting clinical trials and artificial intelligence in health. How do I join? 📢 Announcement! 📢 We are now LIVE with our 10 draft #EquityCharter principles which are ready for you as the community to feed back on! We have been working away behind the scene for some months with our expert partners and stakeholders to come up with 10 positive principles which we think encapsulate what the #DigitalHealth community need to do to really take a positive anti-bigotry stance. Here they are in full: Principle 1: Each of us commits to standing up for equity Principle 2: Leaders, teams and organisations champion equity Principle 3: Equity embedded into policy and practice Principle 4: Equity at the centre of digital strategy and transformation Principle 5: Digital teams represent the wider workforce and communities they serve Principle 6: Equity embedded in research and innovation Principle 7: Digital products and services are designed equitably Principle 8: Ethical procurement and contracting promotes equity Principle 9: Equity in the design and use of algorithms Principle 10: Equitable health and wellbeing outcomes for underserved communities We also want to emphasise that each of these principles will be underpinned by a set of actions that will help individuals and organisations who sign up to the Charter, put this into practice. These aren't just words on a page; these are a positive statement of intent and action. We now want YOU to feed back to us on whether we have got this right, whether anything is missing, or simply to tell us we're on the right track. You can do this by signing up to be a supporter on our website at www.equitycharter.digital which will ensure you are sent the feedback form. And you can read more about this in the article below from one of our overarching Charter partners, Digital Health: https://lnkd.in/ec5uVjUj Thank you to everyone that has helped us get this far ❤️ Be part of the change, get involved, and spread the word! Kicking off Bristol Tech Festival with a truly inspiring evening hosted by One HealthTech Bristol exploring the topic "When and how do we involve patients in healthtech innovation?"   Some of my stand out scribbles around co-design in a healthcare setting from the panel discussion:   🌱 It's an effective tool to surface blind spots in your user research, revealing insights you wouldn't uncover in an interview.   🌱 Clients and sponsors must trust and believe in the co-design process. Storytelling is important—bring them along on the journey by sharing what was learned in each session.   🌱 Use the first workshop as a test bed, as well as building trust and rapport. Start with a topic that participants are highly knowledgeable about to get going.   🌱 Working closely with end users, especially in healthcare settings, is a privilege. Co-design provides a platform for voices to be heard.   Co-design in healthcare is a challenge yet such a powerful tool as evidenced by the wonderful speakers. Design and agile methodologies are at odds with healthcare processes, whilst also navigating ethics, funding challenges, and buracracy. However, when a balance is struck and end users are engaged, the benefits are immeasurable. Thank you One HealthTech Bristol ☺️

Wonderful to hear from such a great panel (including three women) discussing co-design and patient involvement in #healthtech innovation. A considered and helpful combination of researchers, designers and tech experts - a mighty trinity that’s essential for good co-design, co-production and co-creation. Thanks Bristol Tech Festival and One HealthTech!

"The importance of curiosity, openness and continual learning" 💖 We couldn't agree more Victoria Betton

People-centred design for social impact. Sign up to support equitycharter.digital for equity in digital health.

It was such a rewarding experience holding our first public outing for The Equity Charter at HETT this week. As well as our stand, Ayesha Rahim Hassan Chaudhury HonFAPM and I ran a workshop with Alex Hernandez, MPA and our friends at OneHealthTech on leadership for equity in the digital health sector. A theme that resonated with me was the importance of curiosity, openness and continual learning - we don't have to know everything to take a stand for greater equity. Also, fab group photo 👏
