About us

One to One Children's Fund is a charity which spearheads groundbreaking projects which aim to relieve the suffering of children in areas of the world dominated by poverty, hardship, conflict and discrimination We remedy and prevent the adverse impact of HIV/AIDS and trauma on children, working hand in hand with communities to develop and implement projects which can be scaled and replicated. By delivering sustainable projects and empowering local people, One to One Children’s Fund succeeds in rebuilding lives. Our current projects in Africa focus on tackling HIV/AIDS in children. One of our projects is the Paediatric AIDS Treatment for Africa (PATA). It is a network of clinics across Africa which has improved the care for 75,000 children who receive ARV’s (anti retroviral drugs). PATA’s ripple effect continues to gain momentum and save even more lives. Play Football for Life is a remarkable programme which One to One Children’s Fund is supporting through our partner Africaid- Whizzkids United. Through the language of football the children involved are educated on both the dangers of HIV/AIDS as well as life skills in general in an attempt to bring about positive behavioural changes. Enormous thanks to the many hundreds of collectors and supporters who visited Dualities: Women's Empowerment in Africa. You have helped us enormously to expand healthcare throughout the remote Eastern Cape. Special thanks to Bernard Jacobson for so graciously hosting the exhibition. And to curator Susan Ansley Johnson for her vision, passion, and determination. Pulling this exhibition together was a heavy lift, that fell to her shoulders. She has borne it with indefatigable finesse and charm. Brava! Also the awesome Gabriella Saven - there every step of the way carefully putting all the jigsaw pieces into place. And to many others who have worked so very hard to ensure the exhibition's success: Sharon Jackson Hazel Friedman Gqibelo Dandala Nomaza Nongqunga Coupez David Altschuler Catriona Fox Bernard Jacobson Gallery Undiscovered Canvas One to One Africa

  • Today, we join the ILO and communities worldwide in celebrating the essential role of care and support in building resilient, gender-responsive societies. At One to One, we see firsthand how investing in local women as community health workers - our Mentor Mothers - brings life-saving care to South Africa’s most underserved areas. Our Mentor Mothers work at the heart of the “care economy,” providing critical healthcare and support to vulnerable mothers and children, while challenging gender norms and expanding opportunities for women in the workforce. Let’s recognize and support care work as essential to our shared future. Together, we can build a stronger, more inclusive society that values care and empowers those who provide it. #InternationalDayOfCareAndSupport #CareEconomy #OneToOneAfrica #GenderEquality #MentorMothers #SouthAfrica #EasternCape #development #SDG

  • Today is International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. The Eastern Cape, where we work, faces the highest rates of multidimensional poverty in South Africa, and it is women who bear the brunt of these challenges. The UN has stated, “Poverty has multiple dimensions, some visible and others hidden, but all interlinked.” We couldn’t agree more. That’s why at One to One, our Mentor Mothers address a range of challenges facing their communities, including education, healthcare, nutrition, and economic opportunity through a holistic, life-cycle approach. This way, we can empower women, children and men at every stage of life, breaking intergenerational cycles of poverty and creating lasting change for their families and communities. Together, let's eradicate poverty by 2030, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals. #EndPoverty #MDP #EmpowerWomen #OneToOneAfrica #BreakingTheCycle #SDG1 #EasternCape

  • Today, on International Day of Rural Women, we recognize the pivotal role that rural women play in sustaining and developing their communities. At One to One, we see firsthand how these women are not just caregivers, but also leaders, health workers, educators, and entrepreneurs. Through programs like Mentor Mothers, we support rural women as they navigate and address the toughest challenges facing their families and villages—from accessing healthcare in remote areas to creating sustainable livelihoods. These women are the heartbeat of community resilience. By empowering rural women, we’re unlocking the potential for real, lasting change. 🌾👩🌾 #InternationalDayOfRuralWomen #EmpoweredCommunities #WomenLeadingChange #OneToOne #RuralResilience #RuralDevelopment #CommunityDevelopment #WomensEmpowerment

  • At One to One, we have been studying and addressing the relationship between child health and nutrition for almost a decade. Despite widespread poverty and malnutrition, we’ve enabled 81% of children under our care to receive child support grants. Through partnerships, we directly combat malnutrition, having already provided over 11,000 clients with nutritional support, enhancing their children’s futures. Amongst babies born underweight in our programme, we have a 90% rehabilitation rate. • Let's kick off the New Year with a reminder of our Mayfair exhibition in November, curated by Susan Ansley Johnson, through this lovely article by Lee Sharrock. Surging interest in African art has created the ideal conditions for One to One to raise the profile of women and maternal rights through our association with artists and curators. • Just a few more hours left for anyone who wants the chance to triple their support....

  • Just 36 more hours to have your donation tripled! https://lnkd.in/eiSGyDq9 The results speak for themselves. Only a few years ago, expectant mother’s with HIV lived in fear of passing on the virus to their unborn child. Now we are seeing mother-to-child transmission rates of almost 0%* across the 39 villages where we work. That’s 1,700 babies born over the past 6 years, free from HIV whose lives could have been very different. But we cannot celebrate until mothers and children in every Last Mile community are able to access this same support. Please help our Mentor Mothers and us to go even further. Support the Triple It Appeal and have your gift matched twice-over by a small number of generous private donors. But don't hang about: Triple-It closes on 15 December. https://lnkd.in/eiSGyDq9 * only 2 cases of transmission in 1,700 pregnancies over the past 6 years - in a region where 27% of the population has HIV.
