Our Managing Director, Joel, attended South Staffordshire Plc’s first in-person Women’s Network event last week as part of International Women’s Day. The event was led by Group CEO, Charley, Echo Managed Services Managing Director, Hayley, and Group CFO, Joanna. Joel joined Group MDs, Andrew and Steven as a volunteer on the allyship panel where they had an open discussion on how male leaders can support inclusivity. The debate generated important conversation around accelerating allyship within the Group, particularly among male leaders, inspiring them to champion inclusivity in the workplace and lead by example. #InternationalWomensDay #IWS2025 #AccelerateAction #Inclusivity #Utilities

We recently completed the installation of a TSR plant and chemical dosing unit with associated pumping station, below and above ground pipework and a motor control centre. It’s a testament to the site civil and MEICA teams who overcame many challenges to complete the installation before the regulatory date. In house expertise, collaboration and co-ordination with the client and supply chain made it all possible. Well done and thank you to everyone involved in this install. 👏 #Pipelines #CivilEngineering #Utilities #Professional

One of our social value commitments for a Bristol City Council framework we are working on requires us to prioritise local hiring. Although we have attended career fairs in the past without much success, a recent event offered a promising new opportunity… ✨ At a previous job fair, we connected with a representative from Seetec, an organisation that works in partnership with the Job Centre to assist individuals on Jobseeker’s Allowance in finding employment. Seetec invited us to attend their career fair free of charge and we gladly accepted. 🤝 On the day, we engaged with around 20 individuals, and 12 expressed interest by signing up to receive application forms. While not all were interested in the Watercourse Maintenance Technician roles, we also provided our website address, directing them to our careers page. In addition to hosting us at the fair, Seetec has offered further support, including tracking responses from applicants we met and have sent applications to, as well as offering their offices as a venue for interviews if needed. We received only two completed applications initially, but with Seetec’s support, they assisted the applicants in filling out their forms. As a result, we now have a total of seven applications, which are currently under review. 🧐 #Water #Utilities #Recruitment #Collaboration #CommunityFocused 📷: Natalie and Steve at the Seetec recruitment fair

Michael, General Support Manager at OnSite, oversees the business’s apprenticeship training programme. Over the last five years, Mick has managed three programmes and provided mentorship and support to nineteen apprentices. 🗨️ Mick says: “As well as being a mentor to the apprentices personally and as a group, I also support them to stay on track, stay focused, create a good work mentality, become role model employees, and put them on their own personal career journey whether it’s with us or another business. “I oversee the training programme with our learning partner, Watertrain, making sure apprentices turn up on time, keep the right levels of training, carry out regular performance reviews, and put markers down so that the apprentices have a clear understanding of what’s expected of them, and the behaviour and characteristics we look for in becoming a model employee.” We’ll be sharing more about Mick’s role in OnSite’s apprenticeship programme, and hearing from his apprentices, in a few weeks for National Apprenticeship Week. Watch this space… 👀 #NationalMentoringMonth #Mentor #Mentee #Apprenticeships

It’s #GreenWeek at South Staffordshire Plc and we’re celebrating the importance of looking after our environment to help sustain its future. 🌍 This week our flow team has been out litter picking! This simple, yet impactful action helps to tackle plastic pollution, and many items picked up can often be recycled. Picking up litter also protects wildlife and helps preserve ecosystems. 🌱 Well done to volunteer litter pickers Scott Sanaghan, Daniel Davies, Scott Palmer, George Leightley, Mark Cruickshank, Shaun Arnold and Dean Smith for getting involved. #CarbonReduction #NetZero #EnvironmentallyFriendly #ReduceReuseRecycle #Impactful
