About us

The Oxford Online Programme in Sleep Medicine is a 2-year programme of study, leading to either a Post-graduate Diploma (PgDip) or Master of Science (MSc) from the University of Oxford. MSc students are affiliated to Somerville College. Both the PgDip and MSc include eight teaching modules over 2 academic years. Each module runs for 6-8 weeks. These modules provide comprehensive coverage of sleep medicine, based on the European Sleep Research Society’s accreditation criteria, and the extensive expertise available at the University of Oxford. Individual modules can also be taken as Continuing Professional Development (CPD). Course content: 1. The Physiological Basis of Sleep 2. Introduction to Sleep Medicine and Methodological Approaches 3. Circadian Rhythm Disruption and Sleep 4. Insomnia 5. Sleep-disordered Breathing and Sleep-related Movement Disorders 6. Hypersomnias and Parasomnias 7. Sleep in Specialist Populations 8. Sleep and Society MSc students complete two additional modules on research methodology, covering scientific technique, analysis, writing and critique. In addition to the online content, all PgDip/MSc students attend a one-week residential school during their period of study. This offers a chance to engage in practical skills training, connect with classmates and faculty, and to experience all that makes study at Oxford unique.
