    We all took an oath when we joined. An oath to serve others. Today we are launching our own oath. An oath to yourself.     Don't risk it for a biscuit 🍪 . Here's 5 Tips to make sure you hit the 🎯 target with ATS: The debate about ATS rages on. Everyone has their opinions on whether Employers and Recruiters do or do not use it to sift candidates. Who's right and who's wrong? Whatever side of the fence you are on, you have to face the facts: 👉 ATS platforms and LinkedIn DO have the ability to filter candidates based on keywords, skills and qualifications. 👉 Organisations differ wrt how much they utilise these functions, but many DO do this as it makes their job easier (why wouldn't they!) 👉 The optimised application will almost always come out on top, whether it be a human or a machine that is reading the application. With these in mind we pose the question to you the SL - how optimised is your CV and applications? Are you taking the time to make sure every application has the maximum chance of success? We've taken the exploits of a famous military leader, had some fun translating it into civvy-speak, and written their CV as it might have looked had they left the services today. As the person had comparative experience in what is today known as Project Management and Operations Management we've built it for them around these two roles and included keywords and terminology to align it.     Are you prepping for your Military to Civilian Transition like it were a Military Operation? If not, then maybe you should. Here’s why: We’re all familiar with the Standard O-Group/5-Paragraph Order format. It’s been NATO standard since back when a Centurion was a rank not a tank. It’s something that has been drilled into us, something we've been exposed to over and again, and something that comes to mind naturally when we’ve prepared for military ops. The format works because it forces us to consider the lay of the land, the situation, to measure risks and opportunities, to map out plans and strategies, and confirm contingencies and processes. It’s tried, tested, and we know it works. But how many of us put the same logical approach to prepping to good use when we leave? 🤔 I'll bet not many. This is mad when you consider that above all the operations, deployments and exercises you’ve been on during your service, this last and final one – your transition to Civvy Street, is the one that matters most from a point of view for you and your family. Get it drastically wrong then this time you can’t call the cavalry or air support. In the image below I’ve listed out the major elements of the O-Group/5 Paragraph Orders, the main bits anyway, from both UK and US models (apologies if I’ve missed the odd thing – I am Ex-REME after all) Now look below the dotted line, here I’ve laid out the things that are relevant and fit into the process from a RESETTLEMENT pov. Same orders process you’re familiar with, but instead of getting you ready for ops, now it’s getting you ready for a successful transition to Civvy St. Now think 🤔 – if you considered all of the elements below the dotted line, measured risks, mapped opportunities, defined strategy, planned contingencies, and defined your mission, how much easier would the actual job hunt and all that follows be? I'm not suggesting you go out in the garden and dig a model pit and sit your family round it (unless you want to - not judging 🤷♂️) Don't get me wrong, you still have to go out and find the right role & company, leverage your network, get past the ATS, impress the hiring manager, negotiate salary and accept the offer, but what this does do is get you ready to go out on the hunt. It gets you prepped, just like a set of orders gets you prepped to go out on an operation. ⚔ 👉 We’ve laid all this out for you in our free 9-Step process. The bit covered by the 5 Paragraph/O-Group is in our Step 1 (Evaluate), Step 2 (Plan) and Step 3 (Optimise). We’ve laid the whole thing out and made it easy to use, fun and interactive.
