Had a fantastic morning today presenting the 'Training Provision in Scotland's Onshore Wind and Solar Industries' study at the Solar Energy Scotland working group meeting in the beautiful Pinsent Masons offices in Glasgow - thanks to the organisers for the invitation! This research highlighted the need for an integrated perspective of technical skills governance and planning and the importance of multi-stakeholder communication. Achieving Scotland’s net zero goals by 2045 will require significant expansion of the renewable energy workforce, particularly in the onshore wind and solar energy sectors. Current training provision has the potential to deliver the skilled workforce required in these sectors, if it is strategically supported through policy certainty, targeted funding and changes in modes of training delivery, according to our new report.
