optomap is the only technology that captures 200-degree ultra-widefield fluorescein angiography images in a single shot. This combination of field of view and image quality provides clinicians with unmatched visualization of dye perfusion throughout the entire retina without the need to montage images captured at different times. Proud to be recognized as a leading provider of devices to eye care professionals.
About us
When a five-year-old boy was blinded after a regular eye exam failed to spot a retinal detachment, his father made it his life’s work to help eye care professionals by revolutionising retinal imaging. Optos was founded by Douglas Anderson with the goal to make a patient-friendly device to capture a digital ultra-widefield image of the retina. Today, millions of patients around the world have benefited from optomap® retinal imaging. You will find optomap systems in many independent High Street optometrists, as well as eye clinics at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London and Harvard Medical Center in Massachusetts. Our core products produce high resolution optomap images of 82% or 200◦ of the retina, something no other imaging device is capable of in a single comfortable capture. The most recent innovation from Optos integrates ultra-widefield retinal imaging and image-guided Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT). This combined device facilitates the early detection, management and effective treatment of disorders and diseases evidenced in the retina such as retinal detachments and tears, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and age-related macular degeneration. More than 1,000 published and ongoing clinical trials as well as thousands of case studies and testimonials show the long-term value of optomap imaging and OCT in diagnosis, treatment planning, and patient engagement. As a division of Nikon Co. Ltd, Japan since 2015, Optos is approaching its 30th anniversary and proud to be recognized as a leading provider of devices to eye care professionals to provide a more complete approach to patient care.

Optos Ultra-widefield Image of the Month, September 2024 A 39-year-old female with multiple sclerosis was referred for incidental findings on an outside optometry exam. The patient’s visual acuity was 20/50 OD and 20/40 OS, partially due to posterior subcapsular cataracts (PSC). Further examination and optomap 200-degree, single-capture ultra- widefield imaging led to the diagnosis of uveitis with bilateral vasoproliferative tumors (VPT) found on the inferior peripheral retina. Dr. Jon Laudadio is an optometrist with two locations in British Columbia, Canada. One location houses an Optos California ultra-widefield (UWF) retinal imaging device, and the other location uses a traditional wide field camera. He has witnessed the substantial benefits and assurance that optomap® UWF imaging provides both him and his staff. "I have a lot more confidence with the Optos UWF, I know that I've managed to see over 80% of the whole retina. I’ll still perform a full examination, of course, but it gives me a pretty good idea of what’s going on right from the start." Optos on the Cover - Ophthalmology Glaucoma - July/August 2024 The only 200 degree, single-capture, ultra-widefield retinal image, optomap enables eyecare professionals to discover, diagnose, document, and treat ocular pathology, such as glaucoma. A comprehensive eye exam utilizing multimodal ultra-widefield imaging with optomap and integrated OCT (Monaco and Silverstone devices) may enhance practice flow and clinical decision-making. Cataract disease is highly treatable and one simple step toward extending patients’ vision health is through comprehensive, annual eye examinations. Optos’ core devices can image through cataracts 85% of the time. The UWF view of an optomap® image can be captured through hazy media where white light has difficulty penetrating, revealing problematic retinal issues prior to surgery. Visit our blog to read more on the importance of utilizing UWF imaging to identify risks prior to surgery as well as the importance of educating your patients on the severity and commonality of cataract disease. https://lnkd.in/exrGjskb #optos #optomap #UWF #cataract
