We’re here to design and manufacture unique innovative technology to monitor the ocean environment.
About us
Ocean Scientific International Ltd. (OSIL) manufacture data buoys and monitoring systems for use in applications including MetOcean, Dredge, Coastal and Environmental Monitoring. OSIL are experts in the global supply of sediment corers and grabs from shallow water to full ocean depth use, with a range of sampling volumes available from small grabs to a 60m Giant Piston Corer. All systems are backed up by full in-house support, calibration and servicing of instrumentation. OSIL are world leading authorities on salinity, operating the IAPSO Standard Seawater Service, and supplying Guildline salinometers worldwide.

Don't leave it too late! If you have any salinometers, #CTDs, SVs or multiparameter instruments that need #calibration or repairs don't forget to book these in as soon as possible as availability is limited! https://bit.ly/3dbEIvC

Marine Sediment Coring System Commissioned in Sweden >> https://hubs.la/Q02Wqg9t0 Ocean Scientific International Limited (OSIL) engineers have successfully commissioned a Mini Vibrocorer system in Sweden for Sweco, an engineering consultancy firm for environmental technology. The Mini Vibrocorer is used for sampling dense or compacted sediments in off-grid areas or from vessels of opportunity with restricted handling capabilities. The technical demonstration of the self-contained sediment coring system produced complete samples of 2m in length. Comprehensive training on the use of the sediment corer was also delivered to Sweco staff. After Muriels calibration and prepping at our local harbour the #OceanLab #Observatory Ingdalen OSIL (Ocean Scientific International Ltd) buoy has been deployed and is now operational. Ralph Stevenson-Jones an I revisited the location for a quick update and Nortek ADCP northing, and had some spare time to document the environment in the #Trondheimsfjord. Enjoy!

We are currently servicing & calibrating 2 sets of #glider payload CTDs for two different major oceanographic institutions in the USA...#greatminds really do think alike! https://bit.ly/3dbEIvC

Our #USV Profiling Winches and Micro Profiling Winches are now installed on vessels from leading manufacturers across the globe. We'd love to see some more photos of them in use though! https://bit.ly/3M4uQUM #USVsurvey #remoteoperations

It's great to see our distribution partner Guildline Instruments Limited are supporting Sail for Science with some of our #IAPSO Standard Seawater https://bit.ly/IAPSO
We are pleased to announce a generous sponsorship gift to our project from Guildline Instruments Limited — a package of IAPSO Standard Seawater! We will use it in future Sail for Science expeditions to ensure the quality control of salinity determination with our CTD measuring system, using salinity samples measured by the onboard Micro-salinometer MS-310. IAPSO Standard Seawater is crucial for calibrating salinometers and is an internationally recognized standard in Oceanography for determining practical salinity. Guildline proudly serves as its exclusive distributor. Thank you, Guildline! We can't wait for this to be redeployed and continue its contribution to the SINTEF Ocean Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) OceanLab project again!
There's always something to calibrate! 🎯 Yesterday it was the ADCP compass and its echosounder beam. A small part of the work towards redeploying the Ingdalen OceanLab marine observatory tomorrow! The picture shows a surface buoy equipped with a downward looking Nortek Signature100 ADCP+Echosounder. The fishing line has a calibration sphere at 7 meters depths. We move around the sphere until we get a good coverage of the center of the acoustic beam 🤞🏼This type of calibration requires patience and finesse! SINTEF OceanRalph Stevenson-JonesAtle Kleven

Preparing 0.6m Inshore Monitoring Buoys for shipment. These small yet robust buoys are ideal for deployment by hand and can easily be re-positioned when work focus/area changes (i.e. during dredging activities), and can be equipped with multiparameter water quality instruments to monitor whatever parameters are required. https://bit.ly/2YLnzkI
