Building the rapid charging network of the future⚡️

About us

Osprey Charging Network is a UK-wide, rapid electric vehicle charging network. Osprey fund, install and manage their network on behalf of landlord partners. The Osprey network is built to be reliable and easy to use. All Osprey chargers accept contactless payments, App payments, RFID payments and payment through all major third-party payment methods including fleet cards. Every charging point is also powered by 100% renewable electricity. Osprey Charging has been voted as one of the Top 3 Charging Networks in Zapmap’s annual rankings, and has been awarded ‘EV Driver Recommended Network’ status for the fourth consecutive year. At the 2023 Transport and Energy awards, Osprey was named Best EV Charging Network, and this was followed by a quadruple win at the Electric Vehicle Innovation and Excellence Awards (EVIEs). These awards included Chargepoint Network of the Year and Private Sector Infrastructure Strategy of the Year.

In the wake of the Budget and ahead of October new vehicle registrations, expect to see the resurgence of stories that the EV market is in crisis and renewed calls to weaken the ZEV targets.   It's a narrative designed to question the achievability of the ZEV Mandate based on a simplified version of this policy and a misrepresentation of EV demand, costs and provision of charging. We've called out the inaccuracies previously here: https://lnkd.in/e9g7KuVv.   Unchecked, this narrative puts at risk the huge growth opportunity of the UK eMobility sector, already underpinned by billions of pounds of investment and tens of thousands of jobs:   👉 £11bn+ committed EV investment from auto manufacturers 👉 £1.5bn invested to date by charge point operators, with £6-8bn more to 2030 👉 16,000 EV jobs secured or created in manufacturing 👉 10,000+ jobs in EV charging by 2030   Whilst it was positive that the Budget reconfirmed ZEV Mandate targets to 2030, the 2030-35 period is now critical to securing this economic opportunity. In particular, sales of mild and 'self-charging' hybrids, that have negligible effect on the carbon budget, must be phased out as soon as possible.   Supporting this on the much called-for "carrot" side, the Budget did incentivise full EVs over hybrids: 👉 Differential in VED First Year Rates for EVs over hybrid and ICE vehicles increased for 2025-6 👉 Company Car Tax rates to 2030 benefit EVs with much lower rates than hybrid and ICE vehicles   And there was a boost for automotive OEMs with £2 billion in R&D and capital funding for the automotive sector up to 2030. But don't expect this to change the narrative.   Tags: Maurice Hochschild Ian Johnston Dora Clarke Vicky Read Chris Pateman-Jones Quentin Willson FairCharge Dan Caesar Ben Nelmes New AutoMotive Sources: Roland Berger's The present and future economic case for eMobility in the UK (Tim Longstaff, Adam Healy), ChargeUK

Osprey sy'n pweru'r rhwydwaith gwefru mwyaf yng Nghymru 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿⚡🚀 Osprey is charging ahead with the biggest network in Wales! We've now launched and over 100 rapid charge points in Wales, which is more than any other rapid network in the country! Operating this network supports the growing demand for fast, reliable EV charging and helps drive the nation's transition to cleaner transport. 📍 Our latest hub at Capital Shopping Park, Cardiff CF11 8AZ, with abrdn boasts eight 300kW DC chargers—capable of adding up to 100 miles of range in just 15-20 minutes. 📍 This follows hot on the heels of a 12-charger hub at Billy Jeans Café in Holywell, north Wales, in the summer. 🔌 In 2024 alone, we've installed over 40 new charge points in Wales, helping to improve air quality, reduce noise pollution, and support local decarbonisation efforts. As we continue expanding across Great Britain, Osprey remains dedicated to delivering simple, worry-free, and convenient rapid charging for all EV drivers. Jobs, growth and investment across the UK, not to mention the critical role our industry plays in the energy transition. 📝 Powering Ahead: The present and future economic case for eMobility in the UK: https://bit.ly/3YmAlof 💡Published by Roland Berger 16,000 EV jobs secured or created in auto manufacturing £11bn+ committed EV investment from manufacturers £1.5bn invested to date by charge point operators 10,000+ jobs in EV charging by 2030 Yet flawed narratives about EV sales continue to impact public sentiment, risk investment confidence and influence the policy environment. Don't let them stymie the success so far and jeopardise the huge economic opportunity of the EV transition. This is not a market in crisis. 🏗️ Stages of building a rapid EV charging hub This year, we’ve built 17 brand new hubs and expanded 4 existing locations from low-voltage sites to high-voltage hubs due to increasing demand. That’s 21 new and expanded hubs live on the Osprey network in 2024! We're building bigger and better hubs in prime locations to meet the growing and diverse needs of EV drivers across the UK. In addition to new sites, we’re expanding existing locations to future-proof our network, ensuring we evolve with the market. It’s a process that’s no small feat, requiring meticulous planning and execution to ensure high-quality infrastructure with minimal disruption to our partners' car parks. As large, high-power hubs are the new standard on the Osprey network, it's essential for our partners to understand the construction involved. These hubs require connections to the high-voltage electricity network and specialised equipment for safe energy management. While the finished product appears seamless, there's a fascinating journey behind it, one that involves precise coordination and expertise. Whether in bustling city centres or scenic rural areas, Osprey collaborates with a wide range of landlord partners to deliver high-power charging infrastructure across the UK. #EVCharging #SustainableInfrastructure #HighPowerCharging
