Wellbeing Week!
As CEO of Philtronics, I firmly believe in leading by example, especially when it comes to health and wellbeing. Here’s how I integrate some practices into my routine to keep both mind and body in good condition:
Road Biking: There's nothing quite like the freedom of the open road on a bike, especially when shared with friends. Cycling isn't just a physical exercise; it's a social one too. The camaraderie of the group ride, the shared challenges, and the laughter along the way enrich the experience. Social contact during these rides is vital for mental health, fostering a sense of community and belonging. I often enter charity rides that give me a goal. My next ride is Janaury 27th. Sauna Sessions: Post-ride, I often take time for a sauna. It's an excellent way to relax, detoxify, and recover. The heat helps in soothing muscles, reducing stress, and enhancing overall wellbeing. It's like hitting a reset button for both body and mind.
Ice Baths: To balance the heat of the sauna, I use ice baths for recovery. It might sound daunting, but the benefits are profound. Ice baths reduce inflammation, speed up muscle recovery, and fortify mental resilience. It’s a test of endurance that leaves me feeling invigorated and ready for new challenges.
Quality Sleep: I've learned that sleep is the unsung hero of wellbeing. Aiming for 7-8 hours of quality sleep each night is non-negotiable for me. It's during sleep that our bodies repair, our brains consolidate memories, and we recharge for the next day's challenges. Good sleep is the foundation of good health.
Hydration: Staying hydrated is crucial, especially with the physical demands of biking, sauna, and ice baths. I make sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day, sometimes adding a pinch of electrolytes for balance after intense sessions. Proper hydration supports every function of the body, from digestion to cognitive performance.
