Hertshten Group, the global financial services conglomerate, has signed an asset acquisition agreement of the trading business of OSTC Limited. The acquisition brings together two leading industry proprietary trading firms, and further strengthening Hertshten Group position as the world’s preeminent proprietary trading firm in the exchange listed derivative space, with over 900 market analysts based in offices around the world. The OSTC Markets business will continue to be led by Michael Shirley, who will report to Elad Hertshten, Managing Director of Futures First. Mark Slade, OSTC Ltd.’s CEO, said "This is a natural strategic deal that makes perfect logical sense for both parties. We have long admired Hertshten Group as leaders in our industry and we are excited by the massive additional opportunities this agreement brings to our people”. As I celebrate 17 years in the trading industry, I find myself reflecting on the journey that has led me to this milestone. It's been a journey marked by challenges, triumphs, and invaluable lessons learned along the way. Being a woman in a predominantly male-dominated field has presented its unique set of obstacles, but it has also empowered me to break barriers, defy stereotypes, and hopefully inspire other women to pave a way for them in this industry. When I first entered the world of trading, I was met with skepticism and doubt. There were those who questioned whether a woman could thrive in such a competitive and fast-paced environment. However, I refused to let the doubts of others dictate my path. Armed with determination, resilience, and a passion for the financial markets, I forged ahead, determined to prove that gender is no barrier to success in trading. Over the years, I've encountered numerous challenges – from navigating the intricacies of market dynamics to overcoming unconscious bias and gender stereotypes. There were moments when I questioned my abilities and wondered if I belonged in this industry. Yet, with each challenge, I emerged stronger and more determined than ever to succeed. Looking back on the past 17 years, I am filled with gratitude for the experiences, the relationships, and the opportunities that have shaped my journey. I am proud of how far I've come and excited for the future that lies ahead. As I continue to navigate the ever-changing landscape of the trading industry, I do so with a sense of purpose, determination, and a commitment to paving the way for future generations of women in finance. In conclusion, completing 17 years in trading as a woman has been a journey of growth, resilience, and empowerment. It's a testament to the power of perseverance, the importance of breaking barriers, and the incredible potential that lies within each and every one of us. 🗣️ During our recent Town Hall meeting at #OSTC, in addition to Mark Slade presenting latest company updates and plans for 2024, we also revisited a concept that I find particularly valuable: the theory of #MarginalGains. While it originated in competitive sports, its relevance extends across various domains, including our #trading community. This theory emphasizes the importance of consistent, small improvements that, over time, lead to significant progress. 📈 Often, we perceive success as monumental events, but through the lens of marginal gains, we realise that success is built upon countless moments where we strive to be just 1% better. For #traders, this could mean: · Automating trading strategies and improving execution · Dedicating 1h each week to continuous learning · Seeking and leveraging feedback for improvement · Analysing past data and trades for insights · Reflecting on daily activities after the end of the day In our personal lives, it could translate to simple actions like: · Walking instead of driving to the nearest supermarket · Organising unhealthy food out of sight · Committing to reading a few pages each day 📚 📢 Thank you to the other presenters - Hannah Pickard, who shared insights on - our “Enhance” and learning proposition for traders, and to Laurence Filby, for presenting a really informative piece on how we approach the #algorithmdevelopment life cycle. Both presentations are intrinsically linked with the marginal gains concept. As we reflect on our progress, I'm reminded of a meaningful quote by Jim Rohn: "Success is the result of simple disciplines practiced every day, while failure is the consequence of a few errors in judgment, repeated every day. It's the combined weight of our disciplines and our judgments that propels us toward either success or failure."
