  • We’re always looking for ways to work with nature, not against it. 🐄 That’s why at Mornacott, instead of housing our Ruby Red Devon cattle indoors this winter, we took a different approach—outwintering. Rather than relying on supplementary feed and machinery, our cattle stayed outside, grazing on standing forage—the natural vegetation that builds up in the fields. Farming is often seen as something that takes from the land—but when done right, it can give back just as much. This winter, we saw firsthand how a simple shift in approach can create real benefits: 🌱Stronger, healthier soil – Natural grazing improves the nutrient cycle and enhances soil structure, helping the land regenerate. 🐄 Healthier cattle – A natural diet of standing forage supports robust, thriving livestock. 🌍 Lower environmental impact – By reducing our reliance on harvested feed, plastic, and heavy machinery, we’re making meaningful progress in cutting our carbon footprint. As we move into spring, we’re eager to see the lasting impact of working with nature rather than against it. But this is just one of the many ways we’re working to restore landscapes, improve biodiversity, and rethink land management across our estates. • The Real Cost of Our Unhealthy Food Environment We live in an obesogenic world—where unhealthy food options are everywhere and our mental and physical health are taking a hit. But what if we could fight back, make better choices, and shift the burden off our healthcare system and our wallets? In last week's episode of The Shoot Room Sessions, Harriet Bell, Regenerative Farming Lead at Riverford Organic Farmers, dives deep into the powerful connection between our food, our health, and the environment. She shares eye-opening insights on how our broken food system contributes to the mental health crisis, rising obesity, and the strain on the NHS. But that's not all. Harriet's episode is a masterclass on regenerative agriculture, tackling everything from misleading food labels to the critical role of co-design in agricultural policy. Her journey—from aspiring political press secretary to championing resilient, climate-smart farming—is as inspiring as it is informative. • We Are Drowning, Starving, and Suffering—Why Aren’t We Acting? Last week, James Wallace, Chief Executive of River Action UK , delivers an unflinching reality check: “We are not a pleasant neighbour at all. We are not a loved nation. We are feared and disrespected—and we deserve it.” These are bold words, but James isn’t afraid to speak them. He calls out not just the environmental destruction we see in the headlines—floods, fires, famine—but the deeper crisis within our national soul. Britain has isolated itself, turned its back on those in need, and burned bridges with our closest neighbours. But what happens when it’s our turn to need help? This episode is about conservation and policy, but also reflects on who we are as a nation and who we want to become. It’s about reconnecting with our humanity, repairing our relationships, and healing the wounds we’ve inflicted on our planet and ourselves. Catch the full episode now to hear James Wallace's powerful story, his unapologetic honesty, and his inspiring call to action as he unveils the truth about our polluted rivers - and the fight to save them! Hope is not lost! ACTION is needed. Spotify: https://lnkd.in/eb2VYdbn Apple Podcasts: https://lnkd.in/etzAdZCc

  • What Makes Land Valuable? The Answer Is Changing. In our latest Shoot Room Sessions episode, we welcomed Flora Harley, Head of ESG Research at Knight Frank. In line with the release of their Wealth Report—a key guide to property markets, investment trends, and emerging opportunities, flora dives into ESG strategies and the future of real estate, but this conversation was bigger than buildings—it was about landscapes, investment, and nature’s power to restore itself. Rich Stockdale PhD takes Flora through one of our most transformational projects: Esgair Arth— a now thriving estate with 100,000 new trees, chemicals, grazing pressures and old fencing removed and an incredible SSSI now able to breathe and regrow. We explore land valuation, investment impact, and why forward-thinking investors prioritise long-term resilience over short-term profit. 🎧 Listen to the full episode now on Spotify: https://lnkd.in/g5NUeUtU or Apple Podcasts: https://lnkd.in/eSxswUfi Download and Read the full Knight Frank Wealth Report here: https://lnkd.in/fvjga6H

  • 🚀 Remote Work Works—But Only If You Do It Right 💻✨ Remote work has been blamed for misalignment, lack of engagement, and communication breakdowns. But the truth? It’s not remote work that fails—it’s the failure to adapt. Companies that thrive remotely don’t just move their office-based systems online. They rethink how teams operate, communicate, and stay connected. They prioritise trust over control, transparency over assumptions, and flexibility over rigid structures. When built intentionally, remote teams don’t just work—they outperform traditional setups. But getting there requires leaders to break old habits and embrace a new way of working. 💡 Want to know what really makes a remote team thrive? Read the full article on our website now! https://lnkd.in/eGYVeB5B #RemoteWork #Leadership #CULTure #HighPerformance

  • Last week Rich joined Joss Ford on Enviral’s Shifting the Narrative podcast to tackle one of the biggest challenges of our time: how we scale the natural capital market and reshape the way the world values nature.   Right now, nature is undervalued, underfunded, and too often treated as an afterthought in business and finance. That needs to change—fast. In this episode, Rich and Joss dive into: 🌿 Why natural capital is the future of sustainable investment 🌎 The shifts needed to embed nature at the heart of decision-making 💡 How we turn ambition into real, large-scale action   This conversation is a must-listen for anyone passionate about protecting and restoring our natural world. Huge thanks to Joss and the Enviral team for amplifying this crucial discussion.   🎧 Listen now on Spotify or watch the full episode on YouTube here: https://lnkd.in/etHHBznH    Let’s build a future where nature is valued, protected, and thriving. • Change Is Coming—Will We Fight It or Shape It? In the latest episode of Shoot Room Sessions, Kevin Cox —former Chair of the RSPB and a lifelong conservationist—talks about why we must create a bold vision for the future of nature. Without it, people won’t act. Most of us don’t like change. We want stability, certainty, and to know that what we love will stay the same. But in the face of climate and biodiversity crises, fighting change isn’t an option. It highlights why conversations like this matter—where Kevin explains why incremental damage makes inaction so dangerous, how conservation can inspire hope instead of fear, and what future generations will think if we fail to act. Will we choose to fight change—or build something better? 🎙️ Listen on Spotify or Apple Podcasts now, and watch the full episode here: https://lnkd.in/dK-Nicuy
