"Today I had coffee with my younger self" has been trending for a little while and what better day than a random Thursday in March for us to look back on our younger self... We’ve come a long way since our founders first built Ozone API, and a lot has happened along the way. So, we thought about what advice we’d share if we could sit down with the startup version of Ozone API (because, let’s face it, this trend is just too fitting). Here’s what we’d tell our startup selves: 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱, 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗽𝗶𝘃𝗼𝘁 Just because the “cool kids” pivot, doesn’t mean you need to. Ozone API was built with one thing in mind: doing one thing better than anyone else and helping banks and financial institutions deliver high-performing, standards-compliant open APIs. Open banking and finance regulation are sweeping the world, and it's becoming a key channel for serving customers. Markets may not move as quickly as you expect, but stick to your course. It’s the right one. 𝗕𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻t 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗸𝘀 Don’t be surprised if banks take longer than expected to understand the long-term business model opportunities. Huw will tell you personally that this is a huge opportunity for banks to transform their business models and deliver APIs that embed their products and services wherever customers need them. But for a while, banks might be focused solely on regulatory compliance, rather than looking beyond it. 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘆 As the company grows, don't be slow to build the scalable processes, workflows, and decision-making frameworks that will take you to the next stage. Always keep this in mind! And remember: don’t meddle or stay too hands-on for too long (a common founder trait). Trust the team (they’re incredible), trust the platform (it’s amazing), and trust the process (it's an exciting one). 𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸, 𝘄𝗲’𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗢𝘇𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗔𝗣𝗜 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘀𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘄𝗲’𝘃𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗲'𝗿𝗲 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝘀 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗽𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗴𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵. 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗼'𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘂𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘆. Here's a photo of the original gang ❤️
