In a recent Tech Talk by Adtran, our very own Nicolas Scheidecker, Head of UK R&D, shared how the groundbreaking DSIT-funded Proteus and DU-Volution projects are transforming Open RAN. By developing a 5G O-DU that runs seamlessly across Intel, AMD, and ARM CPUs, we are unlocking the full potential of Open RAN while improving energy efficiency and data capacity. This innovation is already in action, part of our main product and deployed in real-world use cases. What’s next? Expanding these capabilities further through the DU-Volution project, in partnership with Adtran as well as BT Group, Accelecom, University of York and The Scotland 5G Centre.
