Today's the last day of Shoptalk! We're here taking it all in and learning so much. Here's our key takeaways so far: ↪️ Loyalty! Michelle Gansle and Allegra Krishnan from McDonald's, and and Zia Daniell Wigder from EMARKETER, revealed some of the secret sauce of data-driven loyalty. Free fries Fridays helps, but data is the key to personalisation. ↪️ Omnichannel customers spend anywhere from 1.5 to 2 times more than single channel customers, plus they're 3 times as loyal. Really great to put a spotlight on this approach from Julian Mills from Quorso, Jose Luis-Gomes from Google, Amish Tolia from Leap, Dan LeBlanc from Daasity, and Anne Mezzenga of Omni Talk Retail. ↪️ Product innovation and collabs. Standing out is tough for new product drops, but limited drops and collabs can put you ahead of the game. Great talk from Melissa Worth at New Balance, Erica Malbon at Malbon Golf, Curan Mehra at Hayden Products, and Laura Brookhiser at L.E.K. Consulting. There's no doubt influencers and collabs have a major impact. We saw the importance of collabs too when Levis’Store saw a sharp 15% rise in sales for Levi's jeans and an 18% increase for cowboy boots, plus a 19.87% increase in visits to stores after Beyonce released her hit single with Post Malone LEVII'S JEANS. A phenomenal 24 hours spent at Founders Forum Group North America this week! Meeting with old and new friends and learning a ton about what's on people's minds. I had the pleasure of connecting with Christine Dagousset from CHANEL who is now involved with some phenomenally creative and innovative startups such as OLAPLEX, and coming to a stark realisation that Chanel stands alone in the brand world for covering all bases of fashion, cosmetics, beauty, skincare, fragrance and jewelry (which other brand does that?!). From Thomas M. Siebel kicking off the day with a refreshing and frank assessment of the AI landscape alongside Jack Hidary, juxtaposed by an entertaining session of storytelling through imagery with David Yarrow. As pass_by is developing a next-generation way to measure customer journey for brick and mortar businesses, a highlight of my day was listening to - and then meeting - Brett Schulman of CAVA who shared his story (and advice) around their recent IPO, and why being called the Chipotle of the Mediterranean isn't such a bad compliment! (I personally think CAVA is way better). I was equally fascinated listening to Eben Upton explaining his rationale behind the Raspberry Pi IPO, why it was in London vs the US ($1bn fails to get enough attention!) and how this liquidity event benefitted the strategic goals of the Raspberry Pi Foundation. Later in the afternoon we were jam packed with more content, before David Fialkow took the stage with Cityblock Health founder Toyin Ajayi to share her meteoric rise as a first time founder from ER doctor to founder of a 1,300 person, $6bn valued healthtech powerhouse. A flawless event delivered by a stellar team as always and congrats to Brent Hoberman, Carolyn Dawson, Izzy Dipple and the whole FF crew. Already looking to 2025 🗽
