in September we made a £1m investment in five specialist bulks tipper trucks to strengthened PD Ports’ services for customers importing grain and powder products at Teesport. The investment highlights PD Ports’ commitment to portcentric logistics and providing all customers at Tees Dock with an end-to-end service. An additional 10 drivers have also been employed to operate the trailers, with existing drivers in the transport team also undergoing extra training. “We’ve worked hard to build a strong relationship between our team in transport and the team in bulks so that we can offer customers the option of a service that sees us handle their product from quay to end destination, making it more efficient and cost effective." - Chris Poole, PD Ports transport manager (bulks) For more information visit: https://lnkd.in/emwKyAvU Road Haulage Association (RHA) #NationalLorryWeek #Agriculture #SupplyChain

Meet Grant Honzik, Operations Director - Bulks, Grant’s story at PD Ports started in 1990. But his first experience of the industry came long before that. Inspired by his childhood experiences, Grant began his career as a Stevedore in the Teesport Steel Terminal working in a range of operations across the dock. The next 13 years saw him develop his skills and progress from Crane Driver to Chargehand, Team Leader, Shift Manager and Operations Manager. This was a period of continual development for Grant, undertaking a range of courses to support his growth. Backed by a NEBOSH General Certificate and further understanding of the legal side of health and safety, Grant moved on to become General Manager of Bulks in 2019, followed by Operations Director Bulks two years later. “I had always found the docks fascinating as my father was a crane driver firstly on Smiths Dock and then Tees Dock. He spoke several languages, so he would regularly take me on to the ships to meet the crew and watch the operations. I would have only been about 7 at the time.” A business is only as good as its people. And our people are our biggest strength. We believe in their ability and potential to deliver excellence. Ambipar Response | UK are proud to support PD Ports Teesport in developing their capability and competency in marine oil spill response, delivering an MCA 5P training course earlier this month. The course was attended by members of PD Ports Harbour and Conservancy Departments, respectively. The course covered the strategic elements of preparing for and responding to marine oil spill incidents, covering topics including fate and effects, contingency planning, stakeholder management, and liability and compensation. The course was inclusive of a practical deployment of PD Ports oil spill response stockpile and a simulated tabletop scenario within their jurisdiction. All delegates were a credit to PD Ports Teesport, and our trainers thoroughly enjoyed their time on site. Ambipar Response | UK look forward to strengthening our relationship with PD Ports through future training and exercising opportunities. #OilSpillResponse #Preparedness #Training

Last week we celebrated 5 years of partnership and collaboration with NMT Shipping 🎉 👏 The partnership began when NMT were looking to expand and were looking for a UK port that could handle export flows to East and West Africa. Teesport was chosen due to its location and for the quality of service it could provide. Calling every six to eight weeks Teesport has shipped more than 9,000 units in the first five years of the partnership. Kim Catterick, Commercial Director - Unitised, at PD Ports said: “We were pleased to welcome NMT to Teesport five years ago to set up the north of England export route to East and West Africa and we look forward to continuing the partnership and supporting its growth. NMT recognised Teesport’s excellent location and strong road links to the wider UK when they were looking to set up a new service and our working relationship has gone from strength to strength.” Nicki Barton, Manager of NMT UKWA team, added: "Here at NMT we pride ourselves on providing the best service possible for our customers. An extension of the service we provide is from the partners we work with, and PD Ports have been an integral part of our operation over the last 5 years." "It has been an impressive 5 years and it has been an absolute pleasure to spend time with the team to mark this milestone and share our appreciation in person. We would very much like to thank each and every one of the PD Ports Team involved in our operation and look forward to continuing our successful partnership for many years to come."
