💡Why is it so difficult to sell to the NHS? I am watching a recording from the first webinar on Peerr - do you know what it is? Peerr.io is a social platform dedicated for healthtech and life sciences professionals. There are many cool experts there and insightful conversations already. The webinar moderated by Hassan Chaudhury HonFAPM is an example of that. The panelists - Liz Ashall-Payne, Henry Stoneley and Liam Cahill discuss the challenges behind tech <> NHS partnerships. If you’re interested in this sector or plan to try and sell your solution to the NHS - this is something you’ve got to watch! Among the most important points discussed: - hidden investment failures - no open and healthy way to discuss why some startups fail in the system, - lost talent - smart, driven people leaving the healthtech domain to join for example fintech, with no hope of winning them back, - limited trust in start-ups and small companies, - the incredible complexity and ambiguity of the NHS, - loosing money as the consequence of founders discouraged from investing in this space, - investors becoming less and less willing to back NHS-only companies, - the threat of technology becoming more expensive in England than somewhere else. And these are not the NHS problems. Dare I say - these are European problems. The traditional way of thinking, heavy administration, the need to be secure at all times - it stops us all from benefiting from technological innovations in health. And that scares me on so many levels as we are already way behind the US and Asia when it comes health-oriented discoveries.
