Tomorrow we will be exhibiting our well established range of Theatre products at the Salford Professional Development Operating Theatres conference including the U.K. made Leafix airway securing device. We will be joined by Sean Runnels from Through The Cords who has developed the Total Control Introducer. We are excited to be launching this innovative airway tool in the U.K. - the first fully dynamic introducer and the first introducer designed specifically to work with video laryngoscopes. Visualisation of the vocal cords has increased greatly with VL but the problem has shifted to tracheal access as the geometry of intubation has changed. The range of movement provided by the TCI ensures first time intubation success! Taking the difficult out of difficult airways - Watch this space.

However, in these early stages we have seen a higher uptake in selective surgery types where problems with off-label conventional materials such as tape and ties are more prevalent. A significant event in the calendar for Leafix today and tomorrow at Difficult Airway Society at Guildhall in London. Tape and ties have been used for generations to secure airways, just like tape was used to secure a cannula before fit-for-purpose dressings came along. The time for change is now! Also joining us today is Dawn Stott who has been working on a report highlighting the harm that is coming to patients through off label materials such as tape and tie when used to perform airway securement. Pentland Medical are the exclusive UK distributor for the Vapor-Clean activated charcoal filters. We launched these in the UK back in 2015 and since the Association of Anaesthetists updated their guidelines on Malignant Hyperthermia in 2021 we now supply them to the vast majority of Hospitals in the UK that administer general anaesthetics.    The Vapor-Clean filters are potentially a life-saving device but due to the rare nature of MH, we see that many theatre staff are unaware of their existence, let alone how to use them when the time comes.    If you don't know the answers to questions like these, let us train you at no cost.   🟠 What should I do if I mistakenly place the inspiratory Vapor-Clean filter on the expiratory port and vice versa?   🟠 Should I pre-flush the anaesthesia machine when using the Vapor-Clean during an MH crisis?   🟠 Do I need to remove the vaporisers or replace the soda lime when I use the Vapor-Clean filters?   We cover these questions and many more.   🔔 Your Vapor-Clean filters come with a free virtual or in-person training session with one of our representatives. Even if you have been using this product for some time, we highly recommend a refresher.
